Geckobot is a Maximal from the Beast Machines portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Free hugs!

The agile Geckobot is both highly intelligent and very creative. Their sail-like wings absorb energy, which they store in a module on their back for use in their energy pulse weapons. They're very maneuverable in flight, and the absorption properties of their wings make them perfect for long-range missions.

In their spare time, they like to create garbage art from scrapped Vehicons.

Beast Wars: Uprising

[edit]
Geckobot (second from right) cannot actually get you a great deal on car insurance from Geico.

Geckobot was part of a cell of Maximals who rebelled against the status quo imposed by their Autobot masters. They joined a nighttime raid on Ferromax Detention Center to free Dynobot, though they weren't very keen on the name chosen for their concealment: the impercepton shield. When they rendezvoused with Rattrap, Geckobot recalled they'd heard reports the other Maximal had died, but Rattrap assured them the rumors were false. The team went on to liberate Dynobot. Prologue

Beast Machines

[edit]
  • Geckobot (Basic Class, 2000)
Part of the third wave of Beast Machines Basics, Geckobot does not actually transform into a gecko despite their name; their technorganic beast mode is instead based on a flying dragon. Their wings are geared to "flap" in beast mode and become arm-mounted blades in robot mode. Their spark crystal forms their beast mode eyes and is revealed fully by flipping open their lizard skull. Gruesome!

  • Geckobot / Longhorn (2-pack, 2000)
Geckobot was also available in a two-pack with their fellow Maximal Longhorn. Both toys are actually on their original individual cards, but packed within a thick cardboard backing with "Beast Machines 2 Pack" printed on it. The set was sold at the now-defunct ToyCo retail store, which was similar to KB Toys and appeared in several of the "Mills" family of shopping centers, like Arizona Mills or Ontario Mills, in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Notes

[edit]
  • Geckobot had the pre-release name of Kamilion.[1]
  • Geckobot's body in Alone Together is modeled on two separate versions of the Prime Deluxe Class Wheeljack mold; the head comes from Dead End while the body comes from the Beast Hunters retooling of Wheeljack.
  • Funnily enough, thanks to an absence of pronouns in their toy bio and not being referred to by any in "Alone Together", Geckobot's gender remains ambiguous despite having an appearance in fiction.
