Robots in Disguise (2001)

[edit]
  • Obsidian (Basic, 2002)
  • Accessories: 2 rotor-missiles
Sold in the fifth and final wave of Robots in Disguise Basics (and the only new item in the wave), Obsidian is a redeco of the Beast Machines Vehicon Obsidian, transforming into a Cybertronic dual-rotor helicopter similar in design to the "Osprey". In vehicle mode, his cockpit can turn and swivel on a multi-joint system to "look around". In both modes, his spinning rotors can be used as missile-blades through a pressure-launch mechanism.
This mold was also used to make the Universe version of Beast Machines Obsidian. It was considered for use as the Wrecker Rotorbolt, but never made it past the hand-painted sample stage.
