[edit]

Tarantulas created the Timemaze during his partnership with Overlord, intending to drop the Decepticon Phase Sixer into various points in the timestream and see what chaotic variations on history the two could create. However, Overlord wasn't that interested in Tarantulas' experiments and instead wanted to use the maze to locate and kill Megatron over and over again across myriad points in history. The two came into conflict over this disagreement, with Springer, Impactor, and Verity Carlo caught in the middle.

After Tarantulas had been mortally wounded by Overlord, Verity worked out how to operate the Timemaze portal and Springer used it to send Overlord's two vehicle mode components to opposite ends of history, ending his threat. Springer then decided to use the Timemaze and attempt to prevent the Autobot/Decepticon war from ever starting by traveling to a point before it began and affecting change. Verity hoped that his doing so might return some of the loved ones she had lost over the course of her involvement with the Autobots and after the two said their farewells, Springer stepped through the portal.
