Use this template to mark an article when you are going to be making extensive edits that may take a while to complete. Save the article with {{inprogress}} at the very top so it will be visible first, then click "edit" again to start your actual changes. This way, other editors are warned away from working on the article at the same time you are, preventing edit conflicts.
Be sure to remove the template when you have completed your edits (or are just going to take a break from them), of course.
