I have been abyssally busy, and the linkfix 'bot has been broken since June.  In theory I'm working on a ground-up re-code.  In practice... the project is in someday-maybe territory.  That's bad, our link-structure will start to get ragged.

Why was my edit labeled "caption bastardry"?KrytenKoro 05:22, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
I've rolled the Deceptitran link-fix 'bot back to May of this year and gotten it working again.  But since I've been crazy-busy I'm also giving you a copy of the keys.  Go to the movelog in RecentChanges and you should now see the Deceptitran links are live.  (The 'bot itself is protected by a server-login you'll have to give the first time you queue a link up per session.  I'm PMing you the password for THAT on the Allspark messageboard.  You will remain  logged into Deceptitran for several hours.)
:Because it did nothing but shuffle the captions, and you're an editor who is relatively new and hasn't contributed much yet. As such, it's the general practice of this Wiki to revert people who do that until they're a bit better known and have contributed more. The term "caption bastardry" has stuck due to the template that Derik cooked up for talkpage notices for chronic abusers of it.--RosicrucianTalk 05:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

* The interface is a bit clumsy-- but also self-explanatory.
* Enjoy seeing the SQL-echos!  They make my life easier when debugging.
* Queued fixes changes are executed at a rate of 1-per-minute 24/7.
* You can go into a job and remove specific pages by hand if necessary, or force them to edit-right-now with "do one edit"
* There is no 'pause' and no order; a linkfix is executed at random from the hundreds (or thousands) pending.
* If a link is in a template (like a franchise navigation) it will try to edit all the pages that include that template.  (Null-edits,)  That's wasteful... but who cares?  Deceptitran can make 43,000 edits per month... wasting its time doesn't hurt anybody.  (The template itself is also on the list of pages to fix that link on, so it'll get it eventually.)
* It does catch storylinks.  It does not catch previous/next links in templates.  (something to fix for the recode.)
* It will simply fail to fix some links.  It always has.  If it's IMPORTANT, double-check.
* If there are no pages-that-link-to-this, Deceptitran just sits there and gives you a blank page.
* You cannot queue up the same job (fix) twice without deleting the old one.
* Completed jobs must be removed by hand.

Constructicons - at the time I called it as hypocrisy, there was nothing indicating that one-shot characters could be moved out of the Guest category if they had a sub-group, much less that the sub-group had been named at that point. It had nothing to do with "wanting to seem savvy", and honestly seemed like hypocrisy to me. Once the reasoning was explained, you'll notice that I tried to do the same with Blurr once, and then dropped it, once the details of the reasoning was explained.

Blurr - while it may have been "revealed" in the Dubai episodes, there are other sources than that (the blog by Wyatt), and that is what I was basing those on - and once the rationale for excluding that source was explained to me, you'll notice that I stopped (though honestly, if the rationale for leaving him out of the Elite Guard is that that hasn't been confirmed in-show yet, he shouldn't even be on the list, since he hasn't had a speaking role). As soon as the reason that Dubai info could not be revealed, even on talk pages, was explained to me, I stopped adding that info as well.
This may be a long shot, but...
Starscream Clones - I explained that I added those (who were not spoilers) because they did have speaking roles and unique character sheets, and that they "might" not all be voiced by Tom Kenny.
I understand that this may be a long shot since you haven't edited since 2021, and what I'm reaching out to you about is something from all the way back in 2010, but I feel it still couldn't hurt to ask anyway. Back in July 2010, you added the contents of the long-since-deleted article titled "Optimus Prime's ancestor" to the article of Prima, with an edit summary stating that Hasbro had declared this character to be Prima and that, by extension, the Protoform Optimus Prime toy of the 2007 Movie toyline had been repurposed as Prima. Since then, all relevant information has cited "Tales of the Fallen issue 4" (the comic story in which this repurposed Protoform Optimus Prime ancestor character appeared in) as the source of this character's identity being Prima.

I even reverted a few who were adding info that was truly spoilers, such as edit, and I don't believe the edits I made after that point be considered "spoilers" or even "edit warring", as I immediately tried to explain my edit and reach a compromise with the other editor. Honestly, most of my edits that you seem to interpret as me being a jackass are just me not knowing the unwritten rules of such articles - as soon as these things are explained to me, I comply, and if even that is a problem, I try to find compromise.
However, rereading that story reveals that the character was completely unnamed in it. Recently, this matter was brought to the attention of myself and several others, and we went looking for any kind of official source that declared this unnamed Prime from "Tales of the Fallen #4" to be Prima, which would have had to have come after TOTF #4's release in November 2009 and the before the July 2010 edit you made to Prima's article. However, after looking through other IDW release from that time, panel coverage of 2010, the Hasbro Q&A sessions, and even the AllSpark Almanac II, we came up short of anything to support this notion.

So, I'm sorry if I seemed like I was trying to spoil you guys (I'm used to wiki's where foreign language info is snapped up as soon as it appears, I honestly thought I was helping), and I just wanted to explain the actions which you seemed to have such a problem with, so that I can go back to editing without people hating me. Truce?KrytenKoro 06:47, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
So, now, since you were the one who made the original edit, I am reaching out to you for your help. Do you have any recollection from back then as to where you heard that Hasbro had said that the unnamed Prime from TOTF #4 was Prima? I know it's been a long time since then, but we'd really like to be able to cite a proper source for this information, and would appreciate any help you can offer, please and thank you. --Sabrblade (talk) 22:09, 26 January 2025 (EST)
:How is the fact Starscream has clones not a spoiler? A single clone- sure- that's obvious when viewing A Fistful of Energon- but seeing lots of edits (and I've seen plenty) in the recent changes for clones plural ruins the surprise at te end of the episode if you didn't notice that the second one (who was acting in-character) has a slightly different color scheme.
:I can answer this.  The last half of the BotCon 2010 "Hasbro Designer" panel revealed to us (some of) The Thirteen for the first time. We got to see eventual-Covenant-of-Primus-hardcover art of Vector Prime, Prima, Solus (I think), Megatronus, and The Fallen and maybe a few others.  The Fallen art from this panel is lost media, since it's never sinced been published outside of that no-photos panel.  This is also where we learned Megatronus's name.  AND this is also when, while Aaron and Rik(?) were introducing Prima, they identified Prima as the Tales of the Fallen character. Hence why Rosicrucian's 2010 edit noted that this was "according to Hasbro" in the days following the convention. according to my 15-year-old memory, anyway  --ItsWalky (talk) 19:28, 31 January 2025 (EST)
::There were two clones in FoE. The episode has aired in Canada, the US and the UK. The "hot" clone had a colour scheme just as obviously different as the purple one as soon as he touched down in front of the Autobots. If you were genuinely ignorant of the Dubai airings, you wouldn't even think twice - you're second-guessing based on info you "shouldn't" have.
::Your reasoning has failed. Have a nice day. - SanityOrMadness 17:49, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

:I had the ending to Autoboot camp ruined for me-- despite avoiding any articles for Animated characters that were getting edits that day because someone posted a new section on a talk page with the Big Spoiler as the title-- and thus it shows up in the Recent Changes page for everyone to see.  It's about as tactful as posting on a messageboard VADER IS LUKE'S DAD!  It doesn't matter that you marked it as a spoiler- the fact it's in the subjectline makes it impossible to not see.  Just like the Arr-Tard who let everyone see "Elita-1 (Animated) had been redirected to Black Arachnia (Animated)".
Question about Dead Men's Boots
:Some edits, by the very nature of doing them are in fact spoilers.  I accept that I'm gonna see activity on the wiki that might spoil who the major characters are in a new episode-- but I also expect that other editors will exercise some basic consideration to avoid slapping their dicks in my face with major spoilers!
I've never used TFwiki's discussion pages before so I hope I'm doing this right but you uploaded a picture of Springer and Ironfist from the Dead Men's Boots mini story from the Last Stand of the Wreckers bonus stories and I was wondering if you scanned it yourself? I really want to read the bonus stories (particularly Bullets) but I can't find the comic anywhere legally so I thought I'd ask the person who's uploaded a picture of it. -- [[ShnowyFox (talk) 21:52, 7 March 2025 (EST)]]
:You don't have to be the first one to add Heath Ledger's death-date to Wikipedia.  A cast page is a list, it will not suffer from the lack of in-depth attention dozens of users can give it if you wait a week to add new characters to it.
:Dead Men's Boots was published online, so it's just a clip from the actual image. Mosaic comics are all single-page, and that one is available to read in the "External Links" section of that page.--RosicrucianTalk 20:54, 9 March 2025 (EDT)
:Consider for a moment that most of the frequent editors on this wiki are fans too, and would like to be able to enjoy the episodes without having to live in the UK, or constantly refresh mininova waiting for the encode to come up.  I downloaded Autoboot Camp 3 hours after the torrent went up, and I still got spoiled by an inconsiderate user before the download ended. -Derik 10:22, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
::And I apologize for that edit. That one was made before I learned that unlike wikipedia, the policy was not just spoiler warnings but a complete absence of the info - and even then, I posted that it was a spoiler notice, without including any of the spoiler info in the edit comment.
::Also, if I had known that having the clones on the cast page at all was considered a spoiler, I would not have put them there, but that was never stated as a reason to take them off - what was stated was that they were one time characters who wouldn't come back.KrytenKoro 17:43, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
:::Dude, your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired. I said that those specific two clones you kept insisting should go on the cast page were one time characters because they were living bombs that Starscream detonated. I'm frankly sick and tired of you trying to rules lawyer this wiki when our guidelines aren't that complicated at all.--RosicrucianTalk 18:00, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
::::...what? I'm saying that "the characters are spoilers" was never a reason that you gave for the characters not to be there - that you said it was about them being bombs, that they were one-off characters, and that they wouldn't be reappearing. And honestly, the only time I did anything approaching "rules lawyering" was with Blurr and Lockdown - the first of which I immediately accepted the reasoning against, and the second I tried to reach compromise on. You will remain logged into Deceptitran for several hours.)

 • The interface is a bit clumsy-- but also self-explanatory.
 • Enjoy seeing the SQL-echos! They make my life easier when debugging.
 • Queued fixes changes are executed at a rate of 1-per-minute 24/7.
 • You can go into a job and remove specific pages by hand if necessary, or force them to edit-right-now with "do one edit"
 • There is no 'pause' and no order; a linkfix is executed at random from the hundreds (or thousands) pending.
 • If a link is in a template (like a franchise navigation) it will try to edit all the pages that include that template. (Null-edits,) That's wasteful... but who cares? Deceptitran can make 43,000 edits per month... wasting its time doesn't hurt anybody. (The template itself is also on the list of pages to fix that link on, so it'll get it eventually.)
 • It does catch storylinks. It does not catch previous/next links in templates. (something to fix for the recode.)
 • It will simply fail to fix some links. It always has. If it's IMPORTANT, double-check.
 • If there are no pages-that-link-to-this, Deceptitran just sits there and gives you a blank page.
 • You cannot queue up the same job (fix) twice without deleting the old one.
 • Completed jobs must be removed by hand.

(You'll figure out the workflow-- tabs are your friend.) I think that's all. I used to just go into the movelog and queue up recent page-moves twice a week... it shouldn't take more than about 3 minutes. (I picked you because you don't go around rearranging deckchairs.) If you think someone else should have access... let me know.

Statistically, making arrangements like this probably means I'm going to suddenly find myself back on tfwiki more, rendering all this unnecessary. For problems, questions, or passive-aggressive statements... you can usually find me online @ my IM account, which is listed on my userpage. -Derik 07:02, 21 November 2009 (EST)

Hello, and goals

[edit]

I wanted to see about setting goals, rrather than randomly editing articles. I put them on my user page. Can I get feedback on them? Primal Rage 12:27, 23 November 2009 (EST)

Admin request

[edit]

Hey, yellow-kid type!

Could you (or another admin, but it looks like you're around...) possibly add the following line to the very beginning of MediaWiki:Common.css? (So it's BEFORE the previous import?)

@import "/w2/index.php?title=User:Derik/Common_tmp.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css";

As a user CSS page, only I (or possibly an admin?) can edit it, so it's safe from most vandalism.

(The idea is to move styles that are semi-finalized off of my server's temp file so that if my server goes down the CSS is at least loading off of TFWiki. The link to my server's temp file remains for rapid-development purposes though.) -Derik 13:50, 29 December 2009 (EST)

Why'd you change the BW Silverbolt page back?

[edit]

You changed the picture caption back to the rather uninspired "Watch out for my deadly spoons". Did you find the new caption I added unamusing? Buddy 23:45, 7 April 2010 (EDT)

You know what. You are right. I should have focused more on changing the comment to make it right, rather then deleting it. I am sorry for focusing on deleting it then changing it.I will think about that when editing in the future.LordDalek 11:22, 17 October 2010 (EDT)

Allspark messages?

[edit]

Hey, Rosi? I sent you a couple of messages on the AllSpark slightly less than a week ago about SG Drift's guns (I have two rights, you have two lefts, and I wanted to trade), but I see you haven't read them yet? Just wondering if the PM system was acting funky or something... --Monzo 14:53, 25 February 2012 (EST)

Sorry about that. I tend to ratchet my notifications for online stuff down to the minimum, so I hadn't spotted. I sent a reply just now.--RosicrucianTalk 13:18, 29 February 2012 (EST)

Quick Question

[edit]

How do you put that link to your talk page in when you sign things? Can you do it automatically? Or do you have to do it manually? -- spyder 19:53, 10 September 2012 (EDT)

It's under the "nickname" field in "my preferences." For example, mine parsed out into code is: RosicrucianTalk Hope this helps!--RosicrucianTalk 19:56, 10 September 2012 (EDT)
Okay, but what do you actually type in the nickname field? -- spyder 20:09, 10 September 2012 (EDT)
That was an exact copy and paste of mine. It would, of course, need to be altered to reflect your username. The Talk is HTML code that produces the superscript in mine. I nearly forgot to mention, but you'll have to put a check in "raw signatures" to get it to parse the code right.--RosicrucianTalk 20:17, 10 September 2012 (EDT)
As you can see, that worked. Thanks!! I like it. :) -- spyderTalk 20:25, 10 September 2012 (EDT)

This may be a long shot, but...

[edit]

However, after looking through other IDW release from that time, panel coverage of BotCon 2010, the Hasbro Q&A sessions, and even the AllSpark Almanac II, we came up short of anything to support this notion.

I can answer this.

Question about Dead Men's Boots

[edit]

I've never used TFwiki's discussion pages before so I hope I'm doing this right but you uploaded a picture of Springer and Ironfist from the Dead Men's Boots mini story from the Last Stand of the Wreckers bonus stories and I was wondering if you scanned it yourself? I really want to read the bonus stories (particularly Bullets) but I can't find the comic anywhere legally so I thought I'd ask the person who's uploaded a picture of it. -- (talk) 21:52, 7 March 2025 (EST)

Dead Men's Boots was published online, so it's just a clip from the actual image. Mosaic comics are all single-page, and that one is available to read in the "External Links" section of that page.--RosicrucianTalk 20:54, 9 March 2025 (EDT)
