Dinobot (Cyberverse)

The Dinobots are an Autobot subgroup from the Cyberverse continuity family.

In times past, when hope seemed but the whimsical notion of babes, "King of the Dinosaurs" Grimlock sent a message to the stars asking its recipients to fight the noblest of fights with courage and good cheer. A message that resonated across the universe, it became the mantra of a distant Cybertronian colony. Its inhabitants took on dinosaur forms in deference to this valiant king and his message. Unfortunately, the fiendish greed of lawless curs resulted in this world being destroyed, with only four known survivors. These wayward souls followed their tormentors to Cybertron in order to prevent a similar tragedy and avenge their fallen leader Tiny Arms. There, they had the good fortune to fall in with the very bot who defined their society. Now christened the Dinobots, these five fight together to protect the recently brokered Autobot/Decepticon peace from those who would defile it. In the process, they've gained the ability to combine into the mighty but youthful warrior Volcanicus, a hero we didn't ask for but one we deserve.

Scout Class

Scout Class Grimlock

Cyberverse Scout Class Grimlock transforms from a robot to an intermediate mode and features an Action Attack gimmick.

Ultra Class

Ultra Class Sludge

Cyberverse Ultra Class Grimlock and Sludge are roughly Voyager-sized toys that transform from robot to a Tyrannosaurus rex and a Brontosaurus respectively. Due to being released at different stages of the line, each toy features a different gimmick: Grimlock has an Action Attack, and Sludge has an Energon Armor.

Cyberverse Ultimate Class Grimlock is a roughly Leader-sized mold that converts from a fully poseable robot into a T. rex and also features an Action Attack. Similarly, Volcanicus converts from a combined robot to a dragon-esque beast mode and features both an Energon Armor and a Twist-N-Change gimmick. Unfortunately, Volcanicus cannot be disassembled into their individual components.

Cyberverse Elite Class Grimlock is a smaller, Warrior-sized, Action-Attack-less mold that transforms from robot to a T. rex. He also comes with a "Trash Crash" Spark Armor accessory that is modeled after a garbage truck, which can form his battle armor in robot mode. Like all Elite Class toys, the accessory also comes with a unique built-in helmet. Unlike the rest of the Elite Class, the armor does not lock into place or clip onto the chest of the robot, meaning that it is prone to popping back into garbage truck mode.

In November 2019, Grimlock was released as one of TakaraTomy Mall's Cyberverse "Christmas Set" offers along with Megatron.

Deluxe Class

Deluxe Class Dinobot Slug

Traditional Deluxe Class figures were made of Grimlock and Slug, released under the Bumblebee Cyberverse Adventures and the Dinobots Unite banners respectively. This Grimlock comes with the crown he wore in "King of the Dinosaurs".

Roll & Combine

Roll & Combine Swoop

The Cyberverse Roll & Combine Dinobots are small toys that convert from robot to dino mode in a single step and can also form half of a Combiner robot. Grimlock forms the upper half of Wheelgrim when combined with Wheeljack, Swoop turns into the upper half of Bumbleswoop when combined with Bumblebee, and Slug becomes the lower half of Slugtron when combined with Megatron. Due to how the combination gimmick works, Slug can combine with either Grimlock or Swoop to create cool new Dinobot combiners. Unfortunately though, Grimlock and Swoop can't combine between themselves, effectively preventing us from creating a new toy of Mega-Dinobot.

Warrior Class

Warrior Class Snarl

Warrior Class Snarl converts from robot mode to Stegosaurus and was released as part of the Dinobots Unite subline. With this release, every Dinobot from the Cyberverse continuity finally has at least one individual toy each.

Buzzworthy Bumblebee

• Bumblebee / Dinobot Swoop (Roll & Combine, 2023)

The Bumbleswoop two-pack was rereleased with no changes in the Buzzworthy Bumblebee toyline.

Notes

• The Cyberverse Dinobots were first mentioned in 2018 in Grimlock's character bio on the Hasbro Cyberverse site but received no further coverage until the Dinobots Unite subline in 2021.
