A group of world leaders met in Versailles and discussed plans for a European Union assault on New York, and a plan within that plan to hit New York with a nuclear bomb during the attack, without telling all the nations involved. All Hail Megatron #6 Later, as Megatron and Starscream squabbled over Decepticon leadership in New York, the European Union sent fighter jets to attack them, All Hail Megatron #10 followed by a larger plane carrying the nuclear bomb. Unfortunately that larger plane was actually the Decepticon Tankor in disguise, All Hail Megatron #11 who dropped the bomb but it was ultimately intercepted and diverted into space by Thundercracker, who considered such weapons dishonourable. All Hail Megatron #12
Several years after the Decepticon invasion, the European Union had developed unspecified anti-Cybertronian military resources. Detonation Boulevard
Notes
[edit]- To briefly summarize political history beyond the scope of this wiki, the real-life European Union was officially formed in 1993, overhauling the European Economic Community which had previously been created in 1957. Naturally, Generation 1 authors were aware of this political trend but did not quite predict the result correctly. Thus, the 1987 children's book "Battle Beneath the Ice" had the Federation of Western Europe existing in 2000 while the 1990 comic story "Rhythms of Darkness!" used the European Crisis Coalition in 2009.
- Despite the similar names, the EU is separate from the ESA. Thus, it is not unrealistic for a fictional United Kingdom to participate in the ESA in the post-Brexit 2020s, if that is indeed the case in the world of Transformers: The Last Knight.
