The surface of the Earth is covered in a web-like pattern created by geothermal energy interlaced with energon pulses, resulting in a cyber lattice. The regions within this lattice are each controlled by a Signal Post which collects and concentrates energy. Signal Posts can sometimes be the location of energon deposits, attracting Decepticon mining operations.
