ID numbers are a classification system used throughout the Transformers brand to numerically identify each toy sold within a franchise's toyline. Historically, they have been used primarily by TakaraTomy (originally Takara), but Hasbro has been known to use its own systems as well. ID numbers provide a form of "order" to each toyline that uses them, allowing collectors to more easily identify specific figures.

Transformers: Alternators
The Transformers: Alternators toyline was the first ever Hasbro Transformers toyline to utilize a form of ID numbering. While Takara had used a numbering system for every single one of their Transformers toylines prior to 2003 (and onwards), this was the first time Hasbro had attempted it. Needless to say, Hasbro utilizing a numbering system for one of their toylines was very short-lived in the 2000s, as the next time they decided to try using a numbering system again wouldn't be until eight years later.
Most likely down to an error when keeping track of their store exclusives, the ID number 25 is missing entirely from the Alternators toyline. Instead, both Nemesis Prime and "Decepticon Rumble" were given the number 24. Which of the two was meant to be the true 24 is unknown, but it seems pretty clear that this was down to an error, either in the printing of the packaging or the releases themselves.

Cyberverse (2011)
Cyberverse (toyline)
Cyberverse was a multi-franchised Transformers toyline that replaced the Legend and Scout size classes used from 2006 to 2010. It originally started its life working alongside the Dark of the Moon franchise in 2011 before incorporating the Prime toyline and its subline Beast Hunters.
Rather than incorporating figures released in a different size class into a single numbering system like TakaraTomy would, they instead numbered each size class individually. However, this numbering system would only last a single series; as soon as a series was finished, the numbering would reset to 001 and count up again from there. Needless to say, this numbering system is pretty straight forward and isn't nearly as convoluted as some TakaraTomy systems could get.
Series 1 was entirely co-branded with Dark of the Moon, while Series 3 Was co-branded with Beast Hunters. Series 2 on the other hand was mostly co-branded with Prime, but there were the occasional Dark of the Moon figures thrown into the mix, as well as the Universal Studios Evac sold in different packaging.

Prime
Much like the Cyberverse toyline above, the Transformers: Prime toyline utilized the same numbering system, counting up from the number 001 per size class and resetting once it had reached the end of its run. The First Edition line, while mostly just a stand-alone "preview" wave that isn't connected to the Robots in Disguise and Beast Hunters lines, featured the same styled numbering system as well.

Masterpiece
The Transformers: Masterpiece#Hasbro
Although The Transformers: Masterpiece toyline had toys released by Hasbro during the years prior as an occasional inclusion to toylines such as Universe and the 2010 Transformers line, Hasbro decided to make their own Toys"R"Us-exclusive version of the line that utilized its own numbering system and featured different paint applications. The numbering system ran from MP-01 through to MP-10 and mostly included the figures made during TakaraTomy's first "revamp" to the line's engineering, style and scale, while also including Grimlock—a figure that was made just prior to the revamp. For whatever reason, the numbering system excluded MP-09. Whether there were actual plans for a figure to fill in that spot or whether the gap is just down to Hasbro wanting to keep the MP-10 numbering for Optimus Prime from the TakaraTomy line, is unknown. Some of the figures in the line also featured Generations branding.
After Hasbro and TakaraTomy made the decision to unify the Transformers brand, Hasbro started to import Masterpiece figures and sold them through Hasbro Pulse. The figures themselves were straight imports of the TakaraTomy products, right down to the packaging, so the actual numbering and names of the products remained the same; however, Hasbro Pulse tended to make its own numbering system for certain products. Whether this was done intentionally or just down to a miscommunication between the two companies, is uncertain. The unification of the brand also allowed Hasbro to reissue figures that had since stopped being produced in the TakaraTomy line, such as Optimus Primal.

Alternators

[edit]

[edit]
Main article: Cyberverse (toyline)

Masterpiece

[edit]

References

[edit]
 1. The TakaraTomy ID number is MP-55 but for whatever reason, Hasbro Pulse went with MP-51+ for their listing.
 2. The numbering of the Legends Class Thrilling 30 figures skips the numbers 011-017. The reason for this is unknown; however, the names of two more planned two-packs, "Brawn & Mudslinger" and "Gnaw & Gnash", were leaked to the public but were ultimately cancelled.
 3. Amazon-exclusive redeco.
 4. 4.0 4.1 TaoBao-exclusive redeco.
 5. Toys"R"Us Singapore-exclusive redeco.
 6. Soundblaster is actually just the Takara version of the Siege toy which features the cartoon-accurate Mercenary insignia, whereas the Hasbro version (released before the show) used a Decepticon one instead. In an effort to let other fans world-wide own a Mercenary-aligned Soundblaster, Hasbro imported the Takara figure as a part of the Generations Selects line.
 7. For whatever reason WFC-E28 was never actually used in the toyline. It is presumed that this ID number would have belonged to "Alternate Universe Optimus Prime" as he is the only figure in the Earthrise toyline to not receive an ID number.
 8. The "Deluxe Centurion Drone Weaponizer Pack" was sold with War for Cybertron Trilogy-branding, yet the figure received an Earthrise ID number.
