The name or term "Wind Sheer" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Wind Sheer (disambiguation).
Wind Sheer is a Decepticon-allied Mini-Con from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
You can't see me.

Wind Sheer (sometimes spelled Windsheer) is the Mini-Con partner to Wheeljack, through thick and thin. Like Wheeljack, Wind Sheer used to be sided with the Autobots, but after their seeming betrayal by their teammates, Wind Sheer followed his partner over to the Decepticon side. He's not as sure about the decision to change sides as Wheeljack is, but won't abandon his friend, no matter what. And in return, Wheeljack fights hard to make sure none of his new allies try to take advantage of Wind Sheer.

If you strike at my friend, you strike at me.

—Wind Sheer's bio quote.

Toys

[edit]

Armada

[edit]
(Hasbro version pictured)
  • Wheeljack with Wind Sheer (Super-Con, 2003)
Armada Wind Sheer transforms into a a made-up stealth fighter bearing a slight resemblance to the F-117A Nighthawk. As a Mini-Con, he has a "Powerlinx" socket on his vehicle-mode underside which allows him to attach to any toy with a "Powerlinx" style 5 mm post; some toys have special Powerlinx posts that activate/unlock gimmicks when a Mini-Con is attached. He's designed to fit snugly into the triangular indentation on his larger partner Wheeljack's roof, activating his Powerlinx-triggered gull-wing doors.
Fly like an Ea... eh, Hawk, I mean (Takara version pictured)
He was only available as a pack-in with his larger partner Wheeljack, first released in the sixth wave of Hasbro's Armada Super-Cons (the fist wave to feature the Unicron Battles branding). The later Takara Legend of the Microns version of Wind Sheer, named "Hawk", uses jet-black plastic rather than the Hasbro's version's charcoal gray and darker yellow plastic, just as his gang-molded larger partner "Rampage" does.
This toy doubles as the Beast Wars: Uprising character Wind-Sheer. This mold was redecoed to make Shattered Glass Whisper.

  • Rampage & Air Assault Micron (Multi-pack, 2003)
  • Takara ID number: MS-08
  • Takara release date: August 14, 2003
In Japan, Wheeljack and Wind Sheer were available both as an individual release, and in a multi-pack with the Air Assault Microns, likely to mirror how his rival Hot Shot had a multi-pack with the Air Defense Microns. All of the toys in the set are identical to their individual releases.

Universe (2003)

[edit]
Dammit, why?!
  • Smokescreen with Jolt vs. Drench with Wind Sheer (Battle in a Box, 2004?)
Wind Sheer's mold was intended to be redecoed as part of a Universe Battle in a Box set with Wheeljack-mold redeco Drench, Smokescreen, and a Mini-Con presumably named Jolt. While the "final" name of this version of the Wind Sheer mold is not actually known, if the previous Battle in a Box sets are any indication, he'd have been named "Wind Sheer" and given no indication if he was the same character or an alternate-universe incarnation or what.
This deco was eventually used as the basis for Shattered Glass Whisper, a different character altogether.

Notes

[edit]
  • While a character model sheet was made for Wind Sheer, he doesn't appear in the Armada cartoon at all.
  • Wind Sheer's toy arms appear to have been placed on the wrong sides. His forearms have "cuts" for (admittedly nonexistent) elbow joints on the backsides of his arms, plus the wedge that prevents his arms from swinging forward in robot mode appear to be there to prevent his arms from swinging too far back and smooshing the now-upward-pointing claw in jet mode. If reversed, it appears Wind Sheer would be able to point both arms directly ahead of him parallel to the ground, rather than at a 45-degree angle downward (once his wings are positioned in their proper 45-degree tilt). His character model shown in the Legends of the Microns Year Book 2003 has the arms reversed from the toy's, so the vertical points of his triangular hands are on the underside, not topside as the toy has them, supporting the "swapped" theory. Unfortunately, his arms are bolted to his wing assemblies, which makes swapping them nigh-impossible.
