Within their home galaxy, the Jedi and Sith derive power from "an energy field created by all living things" which they call the "Force". It has been suggested that it shapes not only the abilities of these two orders, but also grants a bond with combat mecha, allowing a starfighter or ground attack vehicle to reshape itself into a humanoid robotic (though non-sentient) form.
