Due to his temper, '''Cliffjumper''' never made it as a spy.  He does excel at collecting data from those who did, however, and presents this information to his superiors. Given the data that passes in front of his optical sensors, he's pretty high-strung regarding potential Decepticon attacks, and always ready for a brawl.

The name or term "Cliffjumper" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Cliffjumper (disambiguation).
Cliffjumper is an Autobot from the Transformers Animated continuity family.
"Yeah, Bumblebee turning red in Nanosec was totally a reference to me. Totally."

Due to his temper, Cliffjumper never made it as a spy. He does excel at collecting data from those who did, however, and presents this information to his superiors. Given the data that passes in front of his optical sensors, he's pretty high-strung regarding potential Decepticon attacks, and always ready for a brawl. He got his name for the fast action firing pistons within his struts, which allow him to make great leaps. Most often, he uses this mechanism to tackle down field agents who failed to process properly the forms they handed in to him.[1]

What temper? He's just a bot in need of a hug. (Hasbro version pictured)
Now he's miffed because he didn't get a shiny new paint job like everyone else. (TakaraTomy version pictured)
  • Cliffjumper (Activators, 2009 / 2010)
  • TakaraTomy ID number: TA-10
  • TakaraTomy release date: March 27, 2010
  • Known designers: Bill Rawley (Hasbro)
Part of the fifth wave of Hasbro's Animated Activators, Cliffjumper is a new-head retooling of Bumblebee. He automatically transforms from a sub-compact car to robot mode via spring-loaded releases when you press his top-mounted police light, though you need to manually extend his arms to finish the conversion.
Cliffjumper and his new-to-the-assortment wave-mate Dirge saw widespread release in European markets well before they made it to US stores in decent numbers, leading to a certain amount of fan-panic over their potential cancellation.
Cliffjumper was released in Japan by TakaraTomy in 2010, inexplicably in the first wave their Animated Animated toyline (their releases tend to coincide with when they premiere in the cartoon, and Cliffjumper doesn't show up until well into it). While most of Takara's Animated toys ended up with varying amounts of metallic-paint oversprays, this was not a thing they did the the Activators in the line. Which leaves the main difference between this toy and the US release the one that he shares with every other toy in the line: he now features a full-color, white-outlined faction symbol rather than the Hasbro version's plain-black one.
An early sample of the toy features a light red insignia, which almost matches the plastic color. However, this version never saw release, as this sample only features in the toy promo videos.
