Heinrad (ハインラッド Hainraddo) possesses the unique ability to stop time for a short while. His beast mode is that of a tanuki (Raccoon Dog). Meaning he has a giant pair of testicles. This 'bot's literally got ball bearings of chrome steel.
The power to momentarily stop time is a rare ability amongst Transformers and a tremendous responsibility. So, naturally, Heinrad (ハインラッド Hainraddo), quite possibly the most unqualified Maximal new recruit, has been gifted with this power. Heinrad is easy to get along with and rarely argues or gets in the way, but much of that has to do with how utterly unmotivated he is to do anything. Without a gun to his head, Heinrad would spend all his time drinking oil, stuffing his face and napping the solar cycle away.

Though relaxed and easy-going by nature, there's a mischievous streak to Heinrad. When he does use his time-altering powers to freeze the Predacons in their tracks, he takes the opportunity to rearrange them into embarrassing or compromising positions that usually result in them hitting each other with their own attacks. While such an incredible power might seem "wasted" on a sleepy goofball like Heinrad, the truth is that his lazy demeanor ensures that he will never be inspired to misuse his talent.

Heinrad was among the new Maximal recruits chosen to serve under Big Convoy as trainees. When teammates Longrack and Colada began to bicker, he advised that they best get used to one another soon, as they’d be working together for a long while. Break then suggested testing their teacher's strength, to which Heinrad agreed, but they were all disabled by Big Convoy's legendary strength. Although Convoy appreciated the gesture, he told them that their real training would be happening on the planet Gaia, where they would be investigating an explosion that had occurred after Lio Convoy and his team's disappearance there. Once in orbit of Gaia, Big Convoy revealed that he would be remaining on the ship, and Longrack would lead them on the ground. As they began to land, the Predacons appeared, and began to fire on their transportation vessels, destroying them and sending them crashing to the surface. When Break asked Longrack what to do, he, in a panic, told them that it was every man for themself. Stampy then strayed from the team and was captured, leading the remaining Maximals to attempt to escape back to the main vessel. Big Convoy, however, fired on them, telling them all that if one teammate was missing, nobody could leave. Magmatron then approached the group with his own forces, using Stampy as a guide to find them, and stood off against Convoy. Longrack then instructed the recruits that they needed to charge Magmatron in order to take back the bunny ‘bot. As they attempted to do so, the Predacons countered them, but Heinrad was able to freeze time, and thus freeze them. Stealing back Stampy in the confusion, Heinrad was able to make it back to Big Convoy and the others unscathed, before things returned to normal. In a panic, the Predacons teleported away, and the Maximals recovered what they had come for, which was a black box recording detailing Lio Convoy’s disappearance. Using information from it, the group, including Heinrad, had a new objective: to gather Angolmois capsules from across the galaxy, before the Predacons could use them for evil. Big Convoy, Move Out
Heinrad was with Big Convoy and the other Maximal recruits when they saw a volcano floating in orbit of the planet Godbless. When Longrack began to speak on the importance of investigating the phenomena, Colada teased him, and Stampy tried to smooth things over. Heinrad, on the other hand, poked fun at Stampy, saying that he was no good at resolving disagreements. Nonetheless, the group flew closer to the planet, but were halted by a supposed “God of the Maximals”, in reality an illusion created by Saberback, who stunned their ship’s systems and caused them to crash. Heinrad remained behind with Stampy, Big Convoy, and Break, to repair the ship, while Colada and Longrack surveyed their surroundings. Later on, when the pair of Maximals ended up discovering Saberback and a capsule of Angolmois, Heinrad and the others came to their defenses. While Guiledart, Sling, and Dead End tried to provide assistance to Saberback, Heinrad was able to seize the capsule and provide an opening for Big Convoy to blast the Predacons with his “Big Cannon”. Back on their ship, the Angolmois energy was sealed safely away, and Heinrad listened to Big Convoy speak to the locals on the importance of hard work, before rocketing back through space to find more Angolmois. Chase the Mysterious Capsule
Heinrad was among the Maximal recruits who ended up traveling to the planet of Solid. While Break suggested touching down to the surface to grab the Angolmois capsule located there before the Predacons could, Heinrad was less enthused. Nonetheless, Big Convoy insisted and they made their way down. When it became apparent that the planet was frozen over, despite NAVI earlier telling the crew that it was supposed to be warm, Heinrad suggested that it was the influence of the Angolmois capsule that was distorting weather patterns. Once the crew officially landed, Convoy planned on having everyone survey the planet... until it was made painfully clear that Break was the only one capable of traversing the ice efficiently. Thus, Heinrad, along with the others, remained behind with Big Convoy. He and the other Maximals were subsequently buried in snow by the Predacons Sling and Saberback, and Colada had to thaw them out with his flame breath. Once it became obvious to Convoy that their means of travel wouldn't work to meet with Break on time, he had Longrack take a slab of ice from a nearby mountain so that they could slide to the penguin Maximal. The plan worked, and the group arrived just in time to defeat Dead End, and take the Angolmois for themselves. Burning Heart Below Freezing
Heinrad was participating in target practice with the other recruits, who were using one another as the targets. Heinrad wasn't a fan of the game, complaining once he got hit in the tail, but he nonetheless joined in with the others when they called Stampy a coward for not wanting to play. Later on, he was paired with Colada on Maderan when the Maximals touched down on the planet to find Angolmois. The two thought they had found a capsule, but were in actuality trapped by Dead End and Saberback. The two were punished by the Predacons for being such thorns in their sides, but were temporarily freed by Stampy who destroyed the electricity generator creating the trap. They were swiftly recaptured by Magmatron, but freed once more by Big Convoy, whose arrival triggered a retreat on the side of the Predacons. Heinrad was with the other Maximals when they thanked Stampy for his bravery and apologized for their cruelty towards him. Hang in There, Stampy
Heinrad was with the other Maximals orbiting Donovan when Colada and Break were chosen to search it for Angolmois. Later on, when the pair contacted Big Convoy for assistance, the rest of the recruits beamed down to the planet to look for the capsule, while Convoy attended directly to Break and Colada. Heinrad, Longrack, and Stampy eventually found the Angolmois... but they also found Guiledart and Saberback with it. As the groups battled, the canyon they were fighting on collapsed, sending the capsule flying away, and the Maximals sinking into the sand. Eventually Heinrad and the others regrouped with Big Convoy after the capsule was secured, listening to Vector Sigma communicate through him and talk about the virtues of teamwork. Mirage of the Sand

Heinrad is a lovable, drunken goofball, often showing a lazy and relaxed personality. He also moderately kicks ass by freezing time to re-arrange battle scenes so Predacons are hit with their own laser blasts. Nice.

Heinrad was an agent of the Ruler of Time and Space. Tasked with keeping an eye on the situation surrounding the Angolmois Capsules, Heinrad manipulated Vector Sigma into allowing him to join Big Convoy's Gung Ho crew. Double Cross

Heinrad was one of the five rookies among the crew of the Gung-Ho, or so everyone believed. In fact, he manipulated Vector Sigma in order to allow him to infiltrate Big Convoy's crew. Double Cross
On Gaia, Heinrad joined the Gung Ho rookies in a training mission to infiltrate the abandoned Galvaburg II without their instructor Big Convoy's permission. There, they met the Predacons Guiledart and Saberback. While the rest of the rookies were helpless sitting ducks, Heinrad's clock rang. He said it was "dinner time" and he was hungry. Colada agreed with him, stating if they wanted to dine, they had to survive the battle. His words inspired the other rookies into charging at the enemies. Fortunately, Big Convoy stepped in and defeated the Predacons. The 5 Rookies

He was beaten by Guiledart and Saberback along with other rookies in the Predacon base on the planet Gaea. Fortunately, the rookies were saved by Big Convoy. The Five Rookies
The rookies' first mission sent them to the planet Luxor to retrieve an Angolmois Capsule. Things didn't start well as the Gung Ho was attacked by the Predacon flagship Dinosaur. After being sent off to the planet, Break, Longrack, and Stampy found Colada was missing and were saddened by Big Convoy's apparent death, but Heinrad reminded that their orders were to press along and find the capusle. Upon finding the Angolmois Capsule in the desert, Heinrad was the only one who didn't see a mirage created by the Angolmois Energy. The rookies were soon confronted by Dead End, but Colada held him off while the others escaped. They ran into Sling, but were again saved by Big Convoy. There Are 7 Capsules The Maximals had to contend with the Sandron before managing to escape from the planet. 100000000000000000 Grains of Sandron!!

Despite the danger of scaling an icy mountain and Archadis, the rookies managed to find the capsule and restore the planet to its original state. Mortal Combat! Twenty Thousand Meters in the Sky

After a while, two Predacons, Hydra and Hardhead, broke into the Gung-Ho, claiming they had placed a time bomb somewhere on the ship. Longrack tried to defuse the bomb with a manual to guide him, but because of an omission in the manual, he cut the wrong wire. As the bomb started to detonate, Heinrad froze time and reversed it back to the moment when Longrack tried to cut the wrong wire. Heinrad placed Longrack's hand on the correct wire and started time again. Thus, the bomb was successfully defused. A Battle Fought Alone
When Big Convoy went to Jörmungandr with Break, Stampy and Colada, he left Longrack in charge of the Gung Ho along with Heinrad. Two Predacons, Hydra and Hardhead, broke into the Gung Ho in search of the Angolmois Energy and planted a time bomb. After the Predacons took care of themselves and the Maximals found the bomb, Longrack tried to defuse it but cut the wrong wire. As the bomb started to detonate, Heinrad used his powers to freeze and reverse time, correcting Longrack's mistake. Nobody noticed but NAVI, who wondered by Longrack cut a wire other than the one he would have.

Later on that day, Stampy walked by Heinrad's room and heard something. He peeped in on Heinrad out of curiosity and saw him looking serious, talking to someone mysterious on his communication screen. Heinrad told his master he'd used his power due to the emergency, but stated there was no possibility that his identity had been blown. Stampy was frightened upon seeing the scene. A Battle Fought Alone
Later on, Heinrad contacted the Ruler of Time and Space, explaining that he had used his powers because of a dire situation and noted that his true identity was still concealed. Heinrad later used his power to save Big Convoy from being eaten by Unicron along with Magmatron. He then revealed to Big Convoy his true identity as an undercover agent of the "Ruler of Time and Space". Before his disappearance, he asked Big Convoy to help destroy "the cron of the universe"—Unicron. Double Cross
With the other Maximals, Heinrad went to an amphitheater orbiting Cybertron, where they met with Magmatron and the Blentrons. When Unicron emerged from the Black Ball that had been manipulating the Maximals to collect the Angolmois Energy, Big Convoy and Magmatron charged at the evil entity. Heinrad was forced to use his time freeze to prevent Big Convoy from being consumed by Unicron and he revealed to Big Convoy his true identity as an undercover agent of the Ruler of Time and Space. Before he was pulled away due to his interference, he asked Big Convoy to save the universe by destroying "the cron of the universe"—Unicron. Double Cross

After the rookies' graduation, Heinrad showed up in front of Break, Longrack, Stampy, and Cohrada while they mourned for Big Convoy at the cemetery. He took them on a journey to a snowy planet to say goodbye to Big Convoy, who had been reborn as a mammoth named "Big". Return to Zero

:Heinrad transforms into a tanuki. Tanuki in folklore are usually depicted with massive testicles which they can drum on. Heinrad's testicles are rather large for a Transformer (i.e. he has some), but quite small for a tanuki. His articulation, while good, does not allow him to drum on his testicles. In tanuki mode he can also hold a bottle of sake (tanuki are drunks) and a book of IOUs (used to trick people into giving him money).

And yes, the infamous folkloric tanuki testicles are present, albeit mechanical and considerably smaller than normally depicted, one of which houses his spark crystal.

:In robot mode, Heinrad can combine his folklore accessories to make a gun which can be held in his right hand. His missiles can be mounted on his calves, or fired with the gun. He functions as an alarm clock—pull up on his robot head to activate him, then push down to turn off the alarm. He's very shrill. The alarm cannot be activated when Heinrad is in tanuki mode, as the activation switch (the robot head) is concealed.

The name or term "Heinrad" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Heinrad (disambiguation).
Heinrad is a Maximal from the Beast Wars Neo portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Where we're going, we don't need roads.

During his preparations to pursue the Destrongers to the year 2000, Fire Convoy discovered the Beta BT unit of the Autobot Prowl and had it brought to life as Prowl 2. Prowl 2 taught the Dimensional Patrol much about life in the late 20th century Earth and wished to join the mission, but Heinrad cautioned that the risk of time paradoxes was too great. Beast Wars Neo comic

[edit]
"You were expecting maybe Jean-Claude Van Damme?"

Heinrad was an agent of the Ruler of Time and Space. Tasked with keeping an eye on the situation surrounding the Angolmois Capsules, Heinrad manipulated Vector Sigma into allowing him to join Big Convoy's Gung Ho crew. Double Cross

Heinrad joined the other rookies to the frozen planet of Greengard to find another capsule. Despite the danger of scaling an icy mountain and Archadis, the rookies managed to find the capsule and restore the planet to its original state. Mortal Combat! Twenty Thousand Meters in the Sky

Later on, Heinrad contacted the Ruler of Time and Space, explaining that he had used his powers because of a dire situation and noted that his true identity was still concealed. Unknown to Heinrad, he was secretly observed by a frightened Stampy. A Battle Fought Alone Heinrad continued to join the Maximals in further adventures searching for the Angolmois Capsules, including fighting the Byakurēn, Break Through! The Polar Bear Raging Claw Fist! alleviating Rage's sickness, To Jellyfish with Love! Cry Out, Stampy Blade and escaping from Graviton Prison. The Great Escape! Graviton Prison!

After the rookies' graduation, Heinrad appeared in front of Break, Longrack, Stampy, and Colada while they mourned for Big Convoy. He took them to a snowy planet to say goodbye to Big Convoy, who had been reborn as Big the mammoth. Return to Zero Afterwards, Heinrad still occupied his time with tasks from the Ruler of Time and Space. What Became of the Five....

Testicktockles.
 • Heinrad (Ultra, 1999)
 • ID number: S-3
 • Release date: February ??, 1999
 • Accessories: Notebook, sake bottle, 2 missiles
 • Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
Part of the second wave of Takara's Beast Wars Neo toys, Heinrad transforms into a tanuki, aka "Japanese raccoon dog". In tanuki mode he can also hold a bottle of sake (the tanuki of Japanese fable are drunks) labeled with the kanji 酒 ("sake") and a book of IOUs (used to trick people into giving him money) labeled with the kanji 通 ("notes"). And yes, the infamous folkloric tanuki testicles are present, albeit mechanical and considerably smaller than normally depicted, one of which houses his spark crystal.
In robot mode, Heinrad can combine his folklore-based accessories to make a gun which can be held in his right hand. His missiles can be mounted on his calves, or fired with the gun. His head features a clear-plastic visor that can be raised or lowered.
In both modes, Heinrad has a working analogue clock in his chest that is powered by a single AAA battery and actually keeps good time. He functions as an alarm clock: pull up on his robot head to activate him, then push down to turn off the alarm. He's very shrill. The alarm cannot be activated when Heinrad is in tanuki mode, as the activation switch (the robot head) is concealed.
Unlike his fellow Gung Ho team mates, who were also released in South Korea, this figure isn't as easily obtainable to collectors as he was only released in Japan.

 • Red Heinrad (Ultra, 1999)
 • Accessories: Notebook, sake bottle, 2 missiles
A redeco of his previous figure, Red Heinrad is a lucky draw figure made in an unknown quantity. As his name implies, most of the deco has been replaced by red plastic, with black and gold being used to break up the color scheme. It is unknown whether this release retained the clock functionality of the original.
The specifics behind how he was offered are currently undocumented.
