The Thanatos is a Decepticon warship commanded by Razorclaw and the Predacons. Armed with Starblitz torpedoes, it possesses firepower sufficient to destroy a planet.

The Thanatos transported Megatron to Earth so he could investigate the shambles Starscream had made of the Earth's infiltration. His communique to commander Razorclaw was interrupted by a human. Infiltration #4 Megatron ignored the creature and ordered that the Thanatos destroy Cybertron, if necessary, to stop Thunderwing. Stormbringer #3 However, Razorclaw assisted the Autobots by deploying strike teams to the surface, and held off on firing long enough to allow Optimus Prime to stop the rampaging monster, sparing the planet. Stormbringer #4 After collecting the ground forces, the Thanatos returned to Earth so Megatron could orbital bounce to the Decepticon command bunker in Oregon to face the rebellious infiltration unit.
