Hooligan (G2)

Hooligan is a Decepticon Cyberjet from the Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Krok appreciates his support, as long as he stays off the pitch.

If Skywarp needed competition in the cruel practical joker department, he's found it in Hooligan. Only marginally smarter than fellow Cyberjet Space Case, his idea of a great joke is usually something mean spirited and destructive. Hooligan doesn't care who his target is, either: Autobot, human, or fellow Decepticon. His greatest flaw is a tendency to go too far in pursuit of a good joke: most robots would know better than to pull a prank on Megatron, Hooligan... not so much. Given that, it's a wonder he's still functional. But hey, some people do worse, and they get to live.

Hooligan was once teammates with the Autobot Cyberjets back when they were Decepticons. However, once they defected to the enemy, Hooligan and the remaining Decepticon Cyberjets swore vengeance. G-2 Part 4

Now, Hooligan... about that sugar in my gas tank...

During one of the G-2 battles, Optimus Prime had gotten the advantage over Megatron, who was low on energy. Optimus was about to force Megatron to surrender, when Hooligan arrived and hit Optimus in the back with his "Multi Shower Missile" attack. The blow destroyed Prime's back unit, making his cannon inoperative. Megatron then gained the upper hand. G-2 #9

Hooligan and the other Cyberjets then joined with Jolt and Sizzle, encircling the Autobot Laser Rods. Unfortunately, Road Rocket was able to blind them with a smokescreen, allowing for their enemy's escape. G-2 #11

Hooligan was later attacked by Volt and Electro, who damaged his wings, forcing him to escape on foot. Chased by the Autobots, he eventually stumbled upon Road Pig, who got a good laugh out of seeing a running jet, then transformed into a motorcycle and let Hooligan ride him. Together, the two Decepticons turned to face Hooligan's hunters. G-2 #12

Some time after that, Hooligan watched as Volt was defeated in battle and offered a place among the Decepticons by a generous Megatron. Strafe then flew past him, punching Megatron in the jaw and rescuing his Autobot ally. G-2 #15

Megatron later attacked the Autobot headquarters full force, with Hooligan joining in the battle. Megatron was eventually defeated by Optimus Prime, and so all the Decepticons (Hooligan included) were driven into deep space. G-2 Part 6

Legends comic

When the Cybertron Alliance fell apart due to the humans murdering Megatron's friend, Hooligan answered Megatron's call for war. LG-EX Metroplex

When a new Galvatron took control of the Decepticon army, Hooligan made the mistake of calling him "Galvatron II" to his face and was choked out for his slip of the tongue. The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 1 They attacked the planet Beast to steal its energy and the power of the Three Wise Ones' Gems. Hooligan and the G-2 Decepticon jets strafed the Monsterbots and their Legends World allies so that Galvatron's Nemesis could begin harvesting power. Hooligan moved to ground combat and rode his partner Road Pig into the fray. However, the Legends Beast Warriors assumed their Transformer bodies and wreaked havoc on board Nemesis, bringing down the ship. The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 3 Galvatron seized the Gem of Fire and attempted to wield it against his enemies, but the Monsterbots and local Beastformers proved better able to harness the Gems' power. Hooligan was present when Unicron Neo arrived on Chaar and assaulted Galvatron II. The Decepticon leader fled into the past using solitarium rather than dying to the malevolent entity's power. G-2 Comic BomBom comic

This may seem gritty and mature, but then Junpei shows up and ruins it.

In the year 199X, the Decepticons came to Earth to plunder its forestonite, a newly discovered super energy source. The Decepticon Cyberjets attacked the Japan Self-Defense Forces air show and began wrecking the joint. (Why? What's the connection to forestonite? Who knows?) The three Cyberjets closed in on the astonishingly stupid human Junpei, who had stuck around to hurl rocks at the Decepticons, but Electro arrived and rescued the boy. Hooligan snarled that Jolt must have screwed up, as he had been sent to kill Electro earlier.

Electro fought well against the trio, especially considering the damage he had taken in his battle to the death with Jolt on Earth's Moon, managing to destroy Skyjack. To avenge his friend, Hooligan blasted Electro from behind with his missiles, severing his right arm and nearly killing the Autobot.

Before Space Case could deliver the final blow, Optimus Prime arrived on the scene, (presumably) killing Space Case and saving Electro's tailpipe. Hooligan was pleased at the opportunity to fight Prime one-on-one, but his joy was short-lived. Before he could touch his opponent, Megatron arrived and sent a fusion cannon blast at Prime. Prime managed to dodge the attack, but Hooligan was not so lucky. The blast completely atomized the fun-loving jokester. The New Battle!!

Wings Universe

Hey guys, so when do I get a toy based off my new body?

Millions of years ago, Hooligan, using a newly developed "Skyraider" style body, was part of Skyquake's crew sent to recover a mysterious item from the crashed Autobot ship Van De Graaff on Beta-Nine. He and Leozack hunted down the hiding Flak and Landshark when Skyquake left to pursue Thunder Clash. Flak eventually revealed himself, and though both Decepticons were finally able to bring the heavily armed robot down after a rough fight, they were caught off-guard by a sneak-attack by Landshark. In the era of Zeta Prime, Hooligan was among the crowd of protesters rallying against the Autobot cop who reportedly killed an unarmed Decepticon agitator. To Walk Among the Chosen

2019 IDW continuity

Hooligan took part in an assassination attempt on Pyra Magna alongside fellow Seekers Red Wing and Nacelle. However, they didn't expect to come up against Pyra's Companions, and Jumpstream teleported right onto Hooligan in mid-flight. Released as part of wave 1 of the Generation 2 Cyberjets assortment, Hooligan's alternate mode is the proposed "swing-wing" Naval variant of the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor in orange with black tiger stripes and a large pressure-launch missile launcher atop the airframe. When transformed, the missile launcher becomes the robot's right arm, with his two missiles storing by clipping into grooves on this non-launcher arm, which ends up on the underside of his jet mode.

Like his fellow Cyberjets, Hooligan's robot mode makes use of ball-and-socket joints for a high degree of articulation; these toys are the first Transformers to make extensive use of this simple yet effective method of construction to make the toys super-posable as well as resistant to permanent breakage. (The previous year's Laser Rods were also very posable, but those were almost completely made up of standard swivel joints.)

Hooligan was redecoed into Jetfire for wave 2 of the Cyberjets assortment. Apparently, the decision to market the redecos as separate characters was a last-minute change of plans that was only put into use in America and Japan; in Europe, Hasbro supposedly stuck to the original idea for said assortment (here named "Mini-Jets"), with the redecos being sold as running change color variants of their wave 1 mold-mates instead, in unchanged packaging featuring package art in the original deco and the original character's name. Thus, Hooligan was available in Jetfire's colors but still marketed as Hooligan himself. This practice is only confirmed for the versions available in multilingual French/Dutch/German packaging; thus far, no specimens in English/Spanish/Portuguese packaging or in Italian GiG packaging have surfaced.

• In the Comic BomBom story and pack-in manga, Hooligan's special missile attack is called the "Multi Shower Missiles". The attack is portrayed differently depending on the medium: the pack-in comic shows it to be his claw-arm missile attack, while the Comic BomBom manga shows it to be a pair of missiles launched from the bits that stick up on his back in robot mode.
• The "Multi Shower Missiles" attack stands in contrast to the special attack listed on Hooligan's Japanese character bio card, the "Flap Guillotine" (フラップ･ギロチン), which involves placing an opponent's head between one of his swing-wing sections and decapitating them with it. Ouch!
• In "The New Battle!!", Hooligan is drawn with pupils, making him look not unlike a robot from the SD Gundam franchise. This stylistic choice was applied to all Transformers in the story, but is a particularly odd look for him and his normally blank-faced Cyberjet buddies.
• Hooligan's colour scheme was homaged in the Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Class toy Fearswoop, but not named "Hooligan" due to Hasbro being unable to trademark that name.
• Hooligan's Wings body is a "virtual redeco" of the Energon Deluxe-sized Starscream toy.
• Similarly, Hooligan is drawn as a virtual recoloring of the Siege Voyager Class Starscream mold in the 2019 IDW continuity. Space Case also received such treatment, though their third teammate Skyjack did not appear in this continuity.
