Corata-Vaz was one of three planetoids being used by the Ark's original crew to house Nega-Cores. These devices would have accelerated the expansion of the Dead Universe, and Nemesis Prime's reign over all that existed. Cyclonus was on his way to Corata-Vaz to activate the Nega-Core when he let himself get sidetracked attacking the Ark-12. Ultra Magnus and Hound's team chased Cyclonus to his destination, and almost prevented him from activating the Core and its guardian, Thunderwing. Spotlight: Cyclonus Although he was conditioned only to act as a watchdog, and not pursue the Autobot invaders so long as they stayed clear of the Nega-Core, Thunderwing mindlessly held off any attempt to breach his defenses. Even the arrival of the Wreckers did nothing to help the Autobots reach the Nega-Core. Spotlight: Hardhead Finally, Jetfire conceived of reviving the axis cradle technology used by Bludgeon to control Thunderwing in the past. Spotlight: Doubledealer His efforts were successful, allowing the Wreckers enough time to move past Thunderwing into the cave on Corata-Vaz where the Nega-Core was being housed. Jhiaxus interrupted his control, however, and the Wreckers found themselves with positions reserved—now THEY were trying to keep Thunderwing OUT, so that the Jumpstarters could manipulate the space bridge controls and dump the Nega-Cores back into the Dead Universe before it was too late. In the end they were successful, and the Nega-Core was removed from Corata-Vaz. Spotlight: Sideswipe
