Marie Severin (August 21, 1929 - August 30, 2018) was a comic artist from Long Island, New York. She originally intended to become a stained glass artist, but instead her brother John Severin landed her work as a colorist at EC Comics, on the romance, crime and horror titles of the time. She was thus one of the very first women to work in comics. In the 1960s, she began working for Marvel Comics, variously as penciler, inker and/or colorist on many of their big titles such as Iron Man, Thor, and Captain Britain. When the company went bankrupt in 1996, they were forced to let her go, but she remained in the comic business, coloring on DC Comics' Superman Adventures title as well as other comic projects.
