Synopsis

[edit]

Cyclonus wonders if Octane's skills are dependable and if the Triple Changer will be willing to lend a hand in exchange for a factory map. Ever the one to milk a good deal to its fullest (probably been talking with Swindle), Octane promises the job will be done in 30 minutes, so as long Cyclonus gives a nice report to Megatron. Obviously, there's skepticism if the Triple Changer will really follow through the deal and not just take off with the energon...

When someone mockingly asks what nefarious designs the Decepticons are thinking of, it's revealed to be Red Alert and Smokescreen. Smokescreen goes that no matter what activity the 'Cons were trying to hide, Red Alert finishes that there was no way avoiding his sensors.

Nonplussed, Cyclonus starts a timer and tells a startled Octane that he's now on the clock to do what he had guaranteed: 30 minutes to accomplish the job. Immediately, Octane transforms into his tanker mode and takes off to what he considers a more appealing place, taunting the "simpletons" to follow. The Autobots gladly takes the challenge and easily catch up to the startled Triple Changer with their high speed. Overtaking Octane, Smokescreen lives up to his name, releasing a cloud of smoke but forgets the fact that the Decepticon can also fly, and the fire chief Lamborghini winds up being blinded instead.

Reaching the factory that was bargained over, Octane daydreams of getting praise from Megatron after forking over the energon... only for the Autobots to spoil his dreaming, as they're also at the factory—still can't escape Red Alert's sensors. Just before either side gets into battle, Cyclonus announces that time's up and he'll be reporting to Megatron that they won't be requiring Octane, and he's on his own now.

With no more interferences, Red Alert and Smokescreen proceeds to "test" the lone horrified Decepticon's boasted battle capabilities.

Notes

[edit]
  • Contrast to his original Generation 1 incarnation's portrayal of being very paranoid, Red Alert here seems to act a bit similar to Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, especially notable just before "testing" Octane.
