* The molds used for the Egg Beasts originated as toys from the pre-Transformers Takara Microchange line, where they were called "Meteor Robo". The keychains were added for their Beast Wars release, and were retained for the molds' use in Kiss Players.

Dark Eggbird is a Predacon from the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
All of his meat is dark meat.

Dark Eggbird (ダークエッグバード Dāku Eggubādo) is the airborne Predacon Egg Beast, able to transform from a stealthy and lethal hawk mode into, uh, a ball. Presumably he has found this worthwhile as part of his role as one of Megatron's top saboteurs.

Like his fellow Egg Beasts, he is among the oldest of the Predacons.

 • Dark Eggbird (Egg Beast, 1998)
A late (and low-run) addition to the Takara Beast Wars line, Dark Eggbird transforms from a mechanical sphere (ostensibly an "egg" mode) into a robotic hawk. He is cast in purple translucent plastic except for a handful of chromed and die-cast parts. He has a non-removable keychain attached to his beast-mode breast (well, you can remove it if you bend the metal attaching ring).
All of the Eggbots demand a higher price tag on the secondary market than one would expect at first, thanks to their late and relatively limited release.
This mold is a retooling of the 1988 Takara Mashin Hero Wataru "Jakuro" toy, giving him a new loop for his attached keychain. The Wataru toy was itself a retool of the Micro Change "MC-16 Metal Hawk" toy, which also had a base and two additional guns excluded from all later iterations of the mold.
This mold was also used to make Eggbird and Kiss Players Zangetsu.
