An Autobot research team, led by Jetfire and including Perceptor and Wheeljack, discovered new properties of the Matrix. As it turns out, the Matrix is a torrent of powerful energy which can give all Transformers super powers.

However, a one-on-one showdown between Optimus Prime and Megatron had begun. Megatron had sworn to take the Matrix from Prime and use it to his own ends. Prime fought valiantly against Megatron, fending off his foe's attacks with his "Double Wheel-Torque Mega-Ton" attack.  Unfortunately, Megatron's fusion cannon triumphed over Prime, killing him.

Birth of the New Supreme Commander Battle Convoy!

After a great battle, Optimus Prime was defeated by Megatron. Luckily, the spirits of past Autobot commanders dwelling within the Matrix of Leadership activated the Reconfiguration Matrix and resurrected Optimus Prime as Battle Convoy, powering him up with a new body in the process. Battle Convoy's power vastly exceeded that of Megatron's. With his new weapon, the Cybertonium Sword, Battle Convoy crushed Megatron's fusion cannon and rose victorious.

Entering a diagnostic of Battle Convoy's new body, it is explained that the new property of the Matrix discovered by the research team, the Reconfiguration Matrix, has the ability to reformat Prime based on the need of the situation. Battle Convoy's new Laser Rod body features the following stats:

Height: 13 meters Weight: 13.5 tons
