Glit (KP)

Glit is a Decepticon Mini-Cassette and later Autobot from the Kiss Players portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Dammit, I'm a doctor, not a pop idol.

Glit (グリット Guritto) is a Decepticon doctor equipped with hip-mounted multipurpose medical toolboxes and highly precise laser scalpels, but no actual weaponry. Kind but stubborn, he is the best surgeon the Decepticons have. Unusually for his allegiance, he's compassionate enough to treat any wounded robot he comes across, regardless of their faction. It is said that when he appears on a battlefield, neither side will win, because no warriors will die. Needless to say, this has created friction with Megatron, who once ordered Glit's forelegs cut off to punish him for treating a wounded Autobot commander. The protests of his fellow Decepticons succeeded in changing their leader's mind.

Unlike other cassette Transformers, Glit does not transform into an audio tape, but rather a head-cleaning cassette.

Glit likes to get loaded on energon wine and sing.

Glit and his cassette companions appeared on the orbiting base Nana, much to the delight of Teletraan 15, though Teletraan 10 was less than thrilled at the noise they made. But until the Earth's anti-electron field was removed, they were there to stay. Kiss Players Position Volume

After the Earth Defense Command's anti-electron field was removed, Transformers were once again able to visit the planet Earth. Glit was reluctantly pressed into service as a member of the newly formed singing group "Kiss Players", which also included the humans Marissa Faireborn, Shaoshao Li, and Atari Hitotonari and the Transformers Sundor and Rosanna. Although he claimed not to enjoy singing, the others knew that when he got drunk enough, he'd change his tune.

The Kiss Players kicked off a world tour. At their Brave Maximus Fortress concert, a trio of mysterious Sparkbots suddenly appeared, claiming to be servants of Primus, and told the three humans to kiss them. When they did, the humans and Brave were transported away through time, leaving the three cassettes behind, where they shared in the adventures of Teletraan 15. Kiss Players #39

After the disappearance of their human allies, the trio returned to Metroplex in Scramble City until Ultra Magnus gave the three a new assignment. Sparkbots Volume 2 Somehow, the trio stowed away inside Teletraan 15's uniform, and when she was imprisoned by the "Black Panther Man" for destroying sensitive data, they revealed themselves and freed her. As 15 destroyed the disk containing the data she'd collected on her journeys through time and space, the cassettes fought off the panther. It didn't go too well for them. 10 Volume

With all the data collected destroyed, the Black Panther Man's plans were ruined, though he had a grudging respect for his subordinates for having stopped him. To that end, rather than destroying them all, he simply dumped the Teletraans and cassettes out of his ship, back on Nana, and left. 15 Volume: The Last Part

By 2021, Glit had left the Decepticons and was thus present with Fortress's Autobots who journeyed to the Legends Universe. As one of Twincast-turned-Blaster's cassette partners, Glit was "released" by Blaster, who told them all to seek their own happiness in life. While Blaster was battling Scourge, Glit and the others appeared at his side and helped him defeat the Decepticon. LG27 Blaster

Still with the Autobots circa 2035, Glit was stationed at Scramble City following its rebuilding after a catastrophic attack by Metrotitan (who had himself switched sides, only the other way around). He helped Minerva rebuild the damaged Marinemaster into a new body, albeit one without an Energon Matrix. Metrowars

After the negative-polarity Ravage demanded a second opinion about his accident, Glit gave him the same response as the negative-polarity Glit—don't text while driving. Ravage protested that this Glit was supposed to be evil and condone the act. Recordicons #14

Precursor World

A Warrior of the Seven Lights resembling Glit was a member of the White Order of the Primus Vanguard. He looked on in their base on the White Planet as a thin Warrior and their commander White Gallant Convoy discussed what to do about the conflict broiling between extradimensional warriors Star Convoy and Super Megatron on the Blue Planet. A redeco of the original Ravage mold, Kiss Players Glit transforms from a robotic jaguar into a microcassette that can fit into the tape door of the original Soundwave and Blaster toys.

He was available only in an e-HOBBY exclusive set with Rosanna and Sundor, which also came with a bonus music CD. The Cassettron set was released during the second week of March 2007.

This mold was also used to make Howlback and Stripes. Glit's toy was later repurposed as Shattered Glass Ravage.

Notes

• Glit's deco was created by Yui Kano, the voice actress for Kiss Players character Shaoshao Li and for Glit himself. She also designed Zangetsu.
• The name "Glit" seems to be a shortening of the word "glitter".
• Glit is also the first Decepticon toy with a specific "doctor" function. The Constructicon Hook's medic-ness is debatable, being a "surgical engineer".
• The blue-and-white jaguar whose corpse appears in Drift #2 was drawn into the issue by Alex Milne at the apparent urging of a friend, who envisioned it as Shattered Glass Ravage and sought to annoy the character's creator David Willis (who was more amused than anything) by killing him. Because we're a bunch of nerds who'd rather have a bit of fun with it, we've listed it as an appearance of Glit since this is a Generation 1-based story and not a Shattered Glass one.
• The Wings Universe incarnation of Ravage is described as a Cougaraider. This designation could arguably apply to all characters sharing Ravage's body-type.
