Skywatch gunships are vehicles from the 2005 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
No, I don't turn into anything. Or talk, for that matter. You just have an overactive imagination.

Skywatch gunships provide airborne close firepower support for anti-Cybertronian Skywatch operations.

These helicopter-like gunships are armed with side-mounted particle cannons, intended as lethal force weapons against Autobot or Decepticon targets. Other details regarding these units' capabilities are as yet unspecified.

[edit]

After the Decepticon Breakdown was successfully captured by a Skywatch team led by four Crash suits, Spike Witwicky ordered the particle cannons on the supporting gunship to be armed, in order to give the impression that Breakdown was to be terminated. This gambit — to lure out other Cybertronians in the area — worked, as Prowl revealed himself, only to be caught in turn by an infantry-launched inhibitor. ...For All Mankind
