Heavy Iron was made by [Wheeljack] and was designed for Ironhide to clear crowded area's of Decepticons. After Ironhide found [Mixmaster], he was given a Heavy Iron 2.0. This was a more powerful version of the Heavy Iron that could fire small blasts of energy.

When Ironhide confronted Mixmaster for the second time, Mixmaster threw a car at Ironhide which he destroyed using the Heavy Iron. Ironhide went on to destroy Mixmaster's shielding and then Mixmaster himself. After sending Mixmaster to the ground, he exclaimed that was for[ Ratchet] and then cried 'and this is for me!'. Continuing to shoot Mixmaster in the head.

The Heavy Iron was used by Ironhide when he was sent to help evacuate citizens with Ratchet in Detroit from a Decepticon attack. He used this until he had to replace it with the Heavy Iron 2.0 in order to defeat Mixmaster. Unlike its predecessor, the Heavy Iron 2.0 was able to penetrate Mixmaster's shields and destroy him. Look closely, the Heavy Iron is on his right hand while the Heavy Iron 2.0 is on his left hand.
  • There's an inconsistencies between the introduction of these weapons: in the video game adaptation, both weapons are introduced in the 2nd chapter of the game while in the movie, we see again both of these weapons introduced in NEST headquarters and later on, they were used in the Mexican standoff scene.
    • In both cases, Wheeljack is the only one to supply these weapons to Ironhide.
