* Ozu can have two different origins. One is as an anagram of ''zou'', from ゾウ, or elephant, or it can come from マンモス or ''manmosu'', the way mammoth is spelled in Japanese.
*Ozu's name is a shortening of the Japanese rendition of "mammoth" (マンモス ''manmosu''), with the consonant changed to a voiced form. Stunt Wildrider's packaging specifies the mammoth as Ozu's beast mode, as opposed to a regular elephant.

The name or term "Ozu" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Ozu (disambiguation).
Ozu is a Decepticon Mini-Con from the Prime portion of the Aligned continuity family.
He's not fat, his chamber just makes him look poofy.

Ozu (オズ) is the Arms Micron partner of Wildrider. He never forgets.

Fiction

[edit]

Prime cartoon

[edit]
Ozu only appears in the Arms Micron Theater segments of the Japanese broadcast of Prime.
Voice actor: Kenji Nomura (Japanese)

Ozu was hanging around when Dago F and Dago R played a game of whack-a-mole, but wasn't allowed to participate since he turned into a cannon instead of a piledriver. However, he quickly got bored of just watching and joined in anyway, transforming into a cannon and blowing the game machine sky high.

Ozu also ended his sentences with the word "zou", meaning "elephant", until one of the Dagos pointed out that he turned into a mammoth, causing him to apologize and start ending his sentences with "mammoth". Reminiscent Transformation! Arcee's Past

When Arms Micron Theater ended, Ozu joined the rest of the Arms Micron cast in saying goodbye to their audience. Ultimate Transformation! Fight! Transformers

  • Stunt Wildrider (Deluxe, 2013)
  • Set ID number: AM-32
  • Micron ID number: M-37
  • Release date: January 26, 2013
  • Energon Crystal: SP Mud
Part of the tenth wave of TakaraTomy Prime toys, Ozu transforms from a robotic mammoth into a grenade launcher. As part of the Arms Micron gimmick, Ozu features numerous 5mm peg-holes and pegs, allowing him to combine with other Microns to form bigger and more ridiculous "Combo Weapons" and "Super Combo Weapons".
As a "Mud" crystal type, his main combination is with Baro and Gura as the Asteroid Drill Super Combo Weapon.
He was only available packed in with the Deluxe Stunt Wildrider toy, coming out of the package as a bunch of unpainted parts on runners, like a model kit. His extra deco is provided by customer-applied foil stickers on a sheet he shares with Wildrider.
This mold was used to make Geki.

Notes

[edit]
  • Ozu's name is a shortening of the Japanese rendition of "mammoth" (マンモス manmosu), with the consonant changed to a voiced form. Stunt Wildrider's packaging specifies the mammoth as Ozu's beast mode, as opposed to a regular elephant.
