The Surge was a major Decepticon offensive, and is considered one of the Five Dark Epochs of the Great War, ultimately leading to the near-extinction of the entire Transformer race.

The Surge occurred when Megatron, in possession of Autobot access codes obtained by Bombshell from Hunter O'Nion, ordered the abandonment of the infiltration protocols and an all-out attack on all major Autobot outposts.
