Cyber-matter is a metallic substance that coats the surface of Cybertron and has been present since primordial times.

Megatron's Earth fortress of Darkmount was constructed of cyber-matter formed from the Omega Lock. At the Project Predacon site, Team Prime moved to attack and destroy the growing Predacons. This led to the destruction of the cloning project along with a supply of Synthetic Energon. The mixture of Predacon CNA with Synthetic Energon led to the creation of a supply of cyber-matter in the ruined base. Evolution Finding the resulting product to be unstable, Megatron tasked Shockwave with perfecting it, planning to use it and a reconstructed Omega Lock to cyberform Earth and Cybertron. To this end, they kidnapped Ratchet, from who they had obtained the original formula for synthetic energon. Megatron convinced Ratchet to aid in completing the formula to revitalize their homeworld. Minus One Persuasion

The formula was completed despite Ratchet's attempt at destroying it and was later infused into the Omega Lock where Megatron intended to cyberform Earth. This led to a battle with the Autobots onboard the Nemesis where Bumblebee was fatally injured and fell into a pool of cyber-matter formed by the Omega Lock. However, being submerged in the substance rejuvenated Bumblebee and restored his damaged voice box which allowed him to kill Megatron. With the Decepticons defeat, Team Prime took the Nemesis to Cybertron though Ratchet did not know Shockwave's part of the formula to create more cyber-matter. As such, they only had a limited supply which was insufficient to restore Cybertron. As a result, Optimus Prime had the cyber-matter deposited at the Well of All Sparks which began to revitalise Cybertron once more. Deadlock
