Purgatory is a collection of (barely) habitable asteroids floating through space, with no sun or organizing gravitational influence. It's dark, dismal, and populated by corrupted citizens; appealing only to the type of people who can't make it anywhere else.

[edit]Nightbeat and his crew travelled to Purgatory on a sentient starship, Amory, while investigating the disappearance of her pilot, Phyrion, since it was the last place he was seen. When their attempts at questioning the locals failed to yield any useful leads, Amory told them of an encrypted transmission that passed through her hull to Phyrion's quarters, whose origins she had been able to trace to an abandoned building elsewhere on Purgatory.
When they arrived at said building, Nightbeat and his crew were ambushed by the Mayhem Attack Squad and a fight ensued. In the end they were able to rescue Phyrion and chase off the Decepticons. After thanking them and paying them, Amory and Phyrion took off for parts unknown... leaving Nightbeat and the others stranded on Purgatory without a ship. Cheap Shots
