Toys
[edit]Robots in Disguise (2001)
[edit]- Side Burn / Daytonus (Basic Class 2-pack, 2001)
- Accessories: Rifle
- Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- Released in the second wave of Robots in Disguise "Basics", Daytonus transforms into a Porsche 962 Le Mans-style race car, specifically, a Kremer Racing 962CK6. His wheels use a "through-axle" style of construction, which lets him zip along very quickly on smooth surfaces, and his toy is scaled to be used on Hot Wheels and Matchbox style race tracks. He was only available in a two-pack with Side Burn.
Notes
[edit]
- Daytonus' name is derived from the 24 Hours of Daytona race held annually in Daytona Beach, Florida, which features Le Mans-style race cars of similar type to Daytonus.
- Daytonus was the first official release of a mold originally intended to be released as part of the Generation 2 Go-Bots sub-line. Presently, the original identity of the mold is unknown, assuming Hasbro got that far along in ideas, but in 2016, the unused original deco became the basis of the character Crash Test.
- Though the toy shares its origins with and is packed like the Hasbro releases of the Spychangers, he was not labeled as a member of that team until a 2015 Ask Vector Prime entry declared him to be one.
