Shifters can be both [[Autobots]] and [[Decepticons]].   Unfortunately, so far, the only Transformer race in the comics and in the cartoons are the Decepticons.  The Autobot Shifters are still yet to be seen.

Shifters are a Cybertronian sub-species from the Aligned continuity family.

While almost every Cybertronian is capable of changing shape to some degree, Shifters take this to a whole new level. Supposed descendants of the trickster of the Thirteen Amalgamous Prime, Shifters are chameleonoid even by their race's standards, meaning that they have the ability to change color, size, and shape. They have the ability to take any form comparative to their normal size and mass—extending even to other Cybertronians. However, they have their own respective robot modes and alt-modes just like their ordinary counterparts. Thus, their rare talent makes them highly-prized spies, scouts, and even undercover police officers by others. Their default forms sport different appearances, ranging from human-based (Amalgamous Prime, the Mutacons, and Makeshift) to animal-based (Pseudo).

Shifters can be both Autobots and Decepticons. The Autobot Shifters include Amalgamous Prime and the Mutacons. The Decepticon Shifters include Makeshift and Pseudo.

Notes

  • Nexus Prime is described as being like a Shifter at the end of Transformers: Exiles, but since they were earlier described as the descendants of Amalgamous Prime, this may be more comparative than literal.
