The Hansens and Lori's family lived in Colorado. It's apparently also where the Autobot base was located.

Prime cartoon

The control codes for Project Damocles were stored on a mainframe in a military base in Colorado. It was targeted by the Decepticons who were after the codes, and they managed to keep Team Prime at bay long enough to succeed, though the satellite was destroyed a short time later. The Human Factor
