The manual classes are social strata from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

According to the principles of functionism, whereby a Transformer's alternate mode defines their purpose, those who do the dirty jobs such as the Constructibots, miners and haulers are collectively known as the manual classes. They are not afforded a good position in society, being treated as little more than slaves, and as a general rule, can be identified by the black and yellow hazard stripes they sport.
