- Bosch is an alien character in the Generation 1 continuity family.
Bosch is an alien gambler who travels around on a large star ship searching for ways to make a quick energon chip in order to feed his gambling habit. He will even go as far as enslaving unsuspecting travellers that he picks up from space, as he did with Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Smokescreen, Perceptor and Inferno.
Inspite of this, he is not evil, just your average alien in need of Gamblers Anonymous. He is able to be reasoned with and ultimately means no harm to anyone. He finds a kindred spirit in Smokescreen, who also appreciates a good gamble.

On their way home in a "toy rocket ship" that Perceptor had reworked, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Smokescreen, Inferno and Perceptor are picked up from space by a star ship owned by Bosch. Bosch introduces himself and then proceeds to trap the Autobots in separate cylindrical chambers, imobolizes them and zaps them with a ray that robs them of their free will. Smokescreen's chamber malfunctions and he is able to get out.
Knowing that he cannot free his friends and reinstate their free will without Bosch's cooperation, Smokescreen tries to reason with him. Upon discovering that Bosch is a gambler, Smokescreen bets that he can beat a slot machine that Bosch has created and Bosch accepts. Smokescreen uses a chord from his wrist to secretly zap the machine and rigs the machine so that he wins.
Bosch, seeing a chance to make some quick energon chips, makes a deal with Smokescreen to free the other Autobots if they make a killing on a gambling planet. Smokescreen acquiesces, but being broke they are forced to use the other Autobots as collateral in exchange for fifty energon chips at 500 percent interest from Lord Gyconi, an arena owner. The catch is that they have to return in an hour to reclaim the Autobots or they will belong to Gyconi.
Smokescreen wins it big for a time, but becomes reckless and loses it all on one bet when an outsider interferes with Smokescreen's wrist chord. Bosch and Smokescreen go back to Lord Gyconi and discover that he has already arranged for the enslaved Autobots to take part in a match to the death with his "Animaliens."
With the help of Devcon, Bosch, and Slizardo, Smokescreen is able to free his friends before they are taken back to Earth by Astrotrain and under Decepticon control. The Gambler
