The highly-experimental mass-displacement gun was created by Brainstorm, and can temporarily shrink a Cybertronian. It can be stored in a handy miniaturized form.
Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
When apparently long-dead Nanocons inside of Ultra Magnus were suddenly revived, Brainstorm used his mass-displacement gun to shrink Rodimus, Skids, Whirl and First Aid so they could go inside Magnus and eliminate all of the invaders. Brainstorm took it with him down to the surface of Theophany stowed in its miniaturized form. When they encountered a Metrotitan, a Titan who lacked the power reserves to teleport himself away from the planet, the gun was used to reduce his mass and therefore reduce the power requirements.
