- Sparks is an Autobot-allied Nebulan Targetmaster from the United portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Sparks (スパークス Supākusu) is a Targetmaster partner of Artfire, working alongside his other partner Nightstick in the larger Autobot's sniping missions.
Fiction
United
Sparks accompanied Artfire to Nebulos, where he and a group of Autobots led by Stepper were sent to retrieve an antidote for a devastating nano-virus. Unfortunately, the nano-virus was only placed by the Decepticons to draw the Headmasters and Targetmasters out to battle so that Straxus could claim the Nebulans for the Decepticons. Artfire fired Sparks at Straxus (in concert with other Autobots and their weapons), and once Straxus was defeated, the Decepticons panicked and fled. The Fierce Fighting on Planet Nebulos

- Sparks was available only as part of a mail-away exclusive Artfire set, offered through Transformers Generations 2012 Vol. 1. He is a redeco of Power Core Combiners Pinpoint, transforming into an engine-block-looking rifle. The screw-hole in his chest is conveniently a 5mm hole, so he can be mounted on any compatible peg. The set also came with a new version of Artfire's nominal partner Nightstick.
- So why is "Sparks" coming with Artfire? Well, the United manga (seen above) showed Artfire (who had not been planned as a toy at the time) with the mold in gray and black as his gun, clearly meant to be a new form for Nightstick. Evidently they decided they already had a far more accurate mold for Nightstick proper in Universe Nightstick and so the alternate character of "Sparks" to explain the discrepancy was born.
