World War II was a gigantic military conflict on 20th Century Earth. The Axis, the belligerent faction in the war, included the Empire of Japan and Cobra. It followed a previous world war.

In order to win the war, both the United States of America and the Axis worked on creating "super-soldiers": men enhanced by scientific treatments to the peak of human ability.

The United States and its allies won in the end. Victory, though, only led to further conflict.
