- Dropforge is an Autobot Mini-Con from the Robots in Disguise portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Dropforge is a lonely 'bot, a complete 'bot and a common 'bot and yet an unusual 'bot, a 'bot who works the mean streets of the Kaon Police Academy as an instructor. His pride is that you will treat him as a proud 'bot or be very sorry you ever saw him, as he instructs bright-eyed young cadets who haven't yet seen the real Cybertron in all its glorious squalor in the dirty work of forensics and detection.

Dropforge once caught Strongarm and Nightra drag-racing in the Academy's Hall of Studies. Strongarm later insisted that she had only been there to talk Nightra out of it. Guilty As Charged
When a case reminded her of Dropforge's teachings, Strongarm stated that he was her favorite instructor at the Academy, and that he was "a real case-hardened sleuth of a 'bot". He apparently had a fondness for excessively dramatic proclamations regarding crime and police work, and was highly competent at his job. Get a Clue
He later arrived on Earth in pursuit of a band of dangerous fugitives, which included his best student, who were accused variously of unauthorized use of a Space Bridge, destruction of Cybertronian public property during a reckless pursuit, vandalism, reckless driving, escaping from prison, aiding and abetting criminals, acting as an accomplice to said criminals, and numerous other violations. The miscreants kept resisting arrest and escaping lawful custody, including breaking out of his prison ship, but not before conducting an unauthorized central processor scan. The result of the scan indicated a signal from Cybertron was interfering with his central processor and those of the Cybertron Police Officers accompanying him, mind-controlling them to undertake the High Council's will. This signal was blocked by one of Steeljaw's forcefields, causing Dropforge and his men to reboot. The signal was permanently blocked by retuning their processors to new frequencies, and, returned to normal, they proceeded back to Cybertron to investigate the perpetrators of the mind-control, under the guise of still being under its influence.Five Fugitives The subterfuge paid off when Dropforge and his officers were able to take custody of the Bee Team and Steeljaw from the High Council's officers to escort them to the Autobot High Council building as part of their investigation. Freedom Fighters
Notes
- His mannerisms and method of speech establish Dropforge as very much a stereotypical hard-boiled detective.
- Drop forging is a metalworking process that involves heating metal, pouring it into a die, and dropping a hammer on it to form it into the die's shape. For a paramilitary academy's instructor, it's not an inappropriate name.
