Those left still standing stare up at Trypticon, who has grown exponentially larger after absorbing the power of the Matrix of Leadership, with Overlord staring from a distance. However, Trypticon shifts back to normal size and a beam of light streams from his open mouth, from which the Matrix, Perceptor, Victorion and the Enigma of Combination emerge. Optimus Prime explains that the Matrix's power can only be accessed by those it chooses, as Perceptor and the Matrix itself had planned. Suddenly, Trypticon shakes and the ghost of Starscream emerges from within him. He laughs and vanishes as Trypticon deactivates once more, Fortress Maximus catching him before he falls. He laments the loss of another Titan, but Optimus reassures him that it is not his fault. Victorion attempts to reclaim the Enigma, but flames surround it and the Matrix, burning her on contact and destroying her left arm. A face appears in the flames, announcing its return.

Windblade attempts to throw her sword at the being, but it is instantly incinerated. Confirming Optimus's fears, the being declares that the time of the Transformers is at an end. Megatron steps forward as the face morphs into a robotic form, announcing himself as Megatronus, the first Decepticon. Megatron states that from his earliest days, he has followed in Megatronus's footsteps, seeking to build his empire and carrying out conquest in his name. But, as Megatron points out, that war was ultimately lost, costing him everything, and he asks what Megatronus ever has done for him. Optimus signals Fortress Maximus, who attempts to strike Megatronus with his sword as Optimus charges forth with his energon-axe. However, Megatronus repels Maximus, knocking him away, and fires a blast through Optimus's chest, killing him. As no one else dares step forth to attack Megatronus, he takes the Enigma and the Matrix for his own, telling the others to make the most of their remaining time as he blasts off into the sky.
In the aftermath, the others mourn Optimus's death, angrily rebuking Megatron for his seeeming intent to revive the Decepticons. However, Megatron revealed his words were an attempt to stall for time so Optimus and Maximus could strike. With Megatronus clearly outclassing all of them, Megatron asserts that they'll need to work together to survive, and that he knows where Megatronus is headed. Trypticon is finally stopped, but the mastermind behind it all has a few words for the Transformers.

Synopsis
