Sideswipe (IDW)

Sideswipe is a Transformer from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

I have no mouth, and I must homage.

Much like his namesake, Sideswipe is red and impulsive. He at least has the excuse of his young age justifying the latter trait.

Sideswipe's spark was part of the first post-war generation birthed from the Alyon hot spot, Redemption before the sparks were absorbed by the Titan Trypticon to grow properly. Salvation

Some time later, some protoforms had begun to form, Sideswipe among them. When Arcee trailed Sludge, Sideswipe jumped the former from behind only to be quickly overpowered. The perceived threat to his life caused Trypticon to stir. Once the surface situation had calmed down, Arcee introduced Sideswipe to Optimus Prime and affectionately named him after her recently-departed friend. The Dead Come Home, Part 2

Notes

• Sideswipe possesses a black-and-red color scheme and is part of a "new generation" of Transformers, which seems like a sneaky reference to Sideswipe's Generation 2 toy.
