Fiction
2005 IDW continuity

Rung served as a psychiatrist on board the Fateful Archetype, where he was accused of malpractice. A tribunal found that he had indeed got too close to his patients and he was struck off but the Archetype was shot down shortly afterwards, leaving Rung as the only survivor. With all evidence of the tribunal destroyed he returned to practising, though confessed his deception to his friend Froid.
Rung later made a hobby of building models of all ships he'd served on, including the Fateful Archetype. A long time later and after the war had ended, Froid showed up on the Lost Light and, after voicing his surprise that Rung had bothered including the ship in his collection rather than forget his experiences on it, threatened to reveal Rung's secret if he didn't hand over his patient notes. Rung refused and so Froid was forced to reveal the presence of his pet psychopath Sunder—who fed off suppressed memories—as the real reason why he needed access to Rung's patients. Speak, Memory: Part 1
In order to warn the rest of the ship Rung transmitted their conversation to Megatron, including Froid's threat of blackmail. After Froid and Sunder had been dealt with, Rung revealed the existence of the tribunal on the Fateful Archetype to the rest of the Lost Light crew and resigned his position as ship's psychiatrist. Speak, Memory! (Part 2)
