Scylla wonders Megatron is up to, but as their leader manipulates the equipment in the cave they've found, Snaptrap asserts that whatever it is, it's going to be big.
Inside the mysterious bunker the Predacons have found, Scylla grows impatient. Snaptrap hushes her, telling the new Seacon that whatever Megatron has planned, it's gonna be big. All the while, Megatron operates the alien machinery, designing blueprints...

Over in the Graviton, the Maximals are tying the ship's sensors in to Depth Charge's probes so they can search for the Matrix. Prowl points out that the impure energon outside is contaminating the fuel on the ship which is going to cause them problems. The ship's energy purifier fell out during the crash, so the Maximals configure the probes to search for that too. They start taking turns at watch, and eventually Ironhide is woken up by an alert that the purifier has been found.
At the Graviton, Depth Charge explains that by hooking up the monitors and sensors to his probes, they'll be able to find the Origin Matrix much easier. When he re-entered Earth's atmosphere, he was withing 40 miles of the Matrix's energy signature, and with the ship's sensors, they'll be able to pinpoint that signature. Prowl, however, brings up another problem; their limited energon reserves are beginning to be contaminated by the impure energon outside, and by tomorrow, they'll have no usable fuel. Silverbolt notes that the ship's energy purifier was lost during re-entry. Ultra Mammoth decides that the probes can also look for the purifer's electronic tags, but has Prowl plan an alternative fuel source in case they cannot recover the purifier. The Maximal's all take watch, and after several hours, Ironhide is woken up when the probes find the purifier.

Unfortunately by the time the Maximals get there, the Seacons had beaten them to it. Ultra Magnus demands they turn it over, at which point they merge into God Neptune. Undaunted, Ultra Magnus has the other Maximals execute their own surprise: Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt merge into Magnaboss. While the two combiners clash, Magnus and Grimlock move in to secure the purifier, but are hit by an explosion from Autolauncher's guns. Autojetter grabs the device, and after God Neptune levels Magnaboss with a typhoon attack, the Predacons depart, leaving the Maximals stunned on the ground.
Unfortunately, the Seacons have already found the purifier, which Megatron plans to use for his big push. Upon the Maximal's arrival, the Seacons combine into their new gestalt form, God Neptune! The Predacon's aren't the only ones with a trick up their sleeves, however; Prowl initiates his "contingency plan," and combines with Ironhide and Silverbolt into Magnaboss! As the two combiners engange, Mammoth and Grimlock go to recover the purifier, only to be blasted back by Autojetter and Autolauncher. The two recover the purifier, and God Neptune unleashes his Typhoon Attack, knocking all the Maximals back.

Back at the ship, Depth Charge gets the alert that the probes have detected the Origin Matrix.
Not all has gone wrong, however, as back at the Graviton, Depth Charge's probes have found the Origin Matrix...

The Maximals hunt for the Origin Matrix and their lost energy purifier.

Synopsis

Inside the mysterious bunker the Predacons have found, Scylla grows impatient. Snaptrap hushes her, telling the new Seacon that whatever Megatron has planned, it's gonna be big. All the while, Megatron operates the alien machinery, designing blueprints...

Not all has gone wrong, however, as back at the Graviton, Depth Charge's probes have found the Origin Matrix...

Quotes

"Five of us, three of you- I like those odds!"
"Very clever. With five brains, you can actually count!"

God Neptune and Magnaboss exchange smack talk.

"That...could have gone much better."

Ultra Magnus, face-trunking.

Notes

Transformers references

 • Depth Charge refers to the Maximals' current endeavor as a "Matrix Quest".

Trivia

 • Visible on the monitors Megatron is working on are images which look suspiciously like Gigastorm, the upgraded form of Megastorm. Gee, we wonder...
 • That three of the Maximals can combine into Magnaboss should not be a surprise, though Piranacon's name change to match his Beast Wars II counterpart might be. It's not unjustified as he has a new component, so he's not purely Piranacon any more, plus it fits with the whole Beast Wars II vibe.
