The Emberstone is the artifact of Quintus Prime. It has the ability to seed the explosion of living processes in base elements, akin to Primus's own spark. It is not capable of turning your small superpowered animal friend into a bigger, stronger friend.
Fiction
The Covenant of Primus
The life-giving powers of the Emberstone worked into the Thirteen's plan to attack Unicron. Optimus Prime's spark was uniquely akin to that of Primus, and therefore an anathema to Unicron. During the mission, Vector Prime teleported Optimus into Unicron's spark chamber, causing both beings to shut down as they rejected each other. The Liege Maximo and Vector arranged a time-loop that would preserve Unicron in this state of hibernation perpetually, and Quintus Prime's Emberstone was used to restore Optimus.
