After the Autobots had seized the AllSpark, they immediately intended to leave Earth so the artifact could heal Cybertron. Aware that the Nemesis would overwhelm and cripple the Ark as it travelled to the orbiting space bridge, Hot Rod enacted a plan to draw away the enemy warship with remotely piloted Autobot shuttles. Eagerly, "Red Five" guided a shuttle into orbit before he detected the arriving Nemesis which summarily deployed Decepticon scout ships to engage the snubfighters.
Throwing himself into battle, "Red Five" shot down one of the enemy ships but in his boasting left himself open for his ship to be shot down by another. Soon enough, all five shuttles had been destroyed but the ruse had bought Hot Rod the time he needed to get the Ark spaceworthy. Escape From Earth
Following the Autobots' return to Cybertron and subsequent bailing of the Ark, "Red Five" was among the Autobot soldiers who participated in the climatic battle with the Decepticons. Battle For Cybertron II
