Scrapface

Scrapface is a Decepticon from the War for Cybertron Trilogy portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Scrapface is a clone of Refraktor who is itching to fight the Autobots on the frontlines. Unfortunately, many other Decepticons see him as an expendable source for some quick energon, something completely instigated by Shockwave's dark deceptions, leaving poor Scrapface to question who his true enemies are. His disgust for the treatment of low-level Decepticons leads to his respect for those who treat them with any decency, which surprisingly including Autobot major Elita-1 and her team.

He was also presumably at the back of the line on naming day.

Scrapface was among the many Decepticons imprisoned by Shockwave's forces. Selected by a pair of Seekers to be moved to "the arena", Scrapface pleaded that he was not supposed to go there because he was a loyal Decepticon. The pair was quickly shot dead by a team of Autobots led by Elita-1, who implored Scrapface and the other Decepticons to escape. Earthrise episode 1

Following the Autobots' capture, Scrapface led the freed Decepticons to rescue them, feeling like he owed them for saving his life. They all escaped the arena and formed an alliance between the Autobots and renegade Decepticons to save their fellow Cybertronians from the mercy of Megatron and Shockwave. Earthrise episode 2

Part of the first assortment of toys promoting the Netflix War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon, Scrapface is a blue and red redeco of Siege Refraktor, transforming into a Cybertronian "artillery hovercraft". Scrapface is molded almost entirely in shades of grey plastic with his splashes of colour being an extensive paint wash; this gives him the appearance of being covered in accumulated grime and battle scars, though it leaves most of his backside an inaccurate grey.

As with any version of this mold, Scrapface can also transform into one third of a camera, allowing buyers to combine three units into Reflector's classic camera mode (good luck with getting three, though!). The shield becomes one third of a telephoto lens, while his blaster becomes one third of a tripod.

The military insignia on Scrapface's box has him as a Ground Division Infantry Raider, while his instructions place him in the Espionage unit like his Refraktor mold-mates. Given a similar copy/paste error in the concurrent Voyager Class Hotlink's instructions, the box probably has it right.

This toy, like all of the Netflix War for Cybertron Trilogy toys, is a Walmart exclusive in the U.S. and Canada, and a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan.

Scrapface was repurposed as an Angolmois-corrupted form of Reflector in Generations Selects Special Comic.

Notes

• Similar to Spy-Eye, Scrapface coincidentally resembles a Starscream-based animation error of Reflector from the G1 episode "More than Meets the Eye, Part 2".
