Jon Bailey (born March 3, 1979) is an American voice actor. A long-time Transformers fan, his first Transformers voice acting gig was at BotCon 2015, in the script reading of "The Return of Blurr". Prior to this, he had voiced Optimus Prime in various fan projects as well as a parody of the character in an episode of The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange. In the time since, he has become a sort of go-to Optimus voice for Hasbro when Peter Cullen is unavailable due to scheduling or budget reasons.

Outside of Transformers work, Jon is best known as the Epic Voice of Honest Trailers for Screen Junkies. He has also provided voice work for the web series [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}How It Should Have Ended|{{#if:||How It Should Have Ended}}]] and various video games, most notably the Council Spokesman in [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}XCOM 2|{{#if:||XCOM 2}}]]... who he voices with the same Peter Cullen impression that he uses for Optimus.

Notes

  • Bailey provided the temporary voice track for Optimus Prime in Bumblebee, with the studio intending to replace his voice with that of Prime's regular actor, Peter Cullen, once everything had been finalized. However, some of Bailey's temp tracks were accidentally left in the film's marketing material. The official trailer released in September 2018 features Cullen's voice, while an international trailer released at roughly the same time features Bailey, with a teaser released a few days earlier splitting the difference between the two. Bailey also auditioned for multiple characters, including Ironhide, meaning he was originally meant to speak (whether Bailey was originally going to get the role or not is unknown).<ref>Seibertron article about Bailey's experience</ref>
