Fiction

Super-God Masterforce cartoon

As Ginrai and Road King fought BlackZarak in China, the powerful Decepticon summoned one of each of the three Sparkdash Decepticons to aid him. Although the Autobots were briefly taken aback by the arrival of the new enemies, the Sparkdash quickly proved to be as fragile as the Seacons—when Ginrai scored a single hit on the Guzzle, it promptly exploded, and Road King quickly took out the remaining drones. God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?

A Sparkdash legion backed up the Decepticons when they staged an attack on North America from within the Grand Canyon. Shūta Gō, Cab, Minerva and Cancer were badly outnumbered by the huge robot swarm, but help soon arrived in the form of Wilder and Bullhorn, who added enough extra firepower to wipe out the Decepticon drones. Super-God Masterforce comic

When BlackZarak attacked a city where Cancer went to, he brought one of each Sparkdash drone to join him in the destruction he wrought. As the Sparkdash set the city aflame, the Autobot Godmasters arrive to thwart their fiery felony. Charging through a huge jet of combined flame from the Sparkdash, the Godmasters tackled and defeated the drones. The Great Turnabout of the Autobots

Toys

Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

The Sparkdash share their molds with the Sparkabots and Firecons released around the same time in Hasbro's markets. They are small, very simple toys built around a "sparking gimmick": each toy features a friction-motor that causes "cold" sparks to shoot from their alternate modes. The Autobots fire them from the rear of their vehicle modes, while the Decepticons shoot them from their animal-mode mouths.

Notes

  • The Sparkdash are a bit of an oddity in regards to the Masterforce fiction. The Autobot Sparkdash never made any appearances in either the cartoon or comic. The Decepticon Sparkdash appeared in both as unliving drones, but were colored in the cartoon as their Hasbro counterparts, the Firecons, rather than the colors Takara had given their toys. (The manga was printed in black and white with limited use of gray, so it's impossible to tell what they were "colored" like there.) Even the Masterforce toy catalog follows this pattern, showing toy photographs of the Hasbro versions of the toys for both the Autobot and Decepticon Sparkdash.
