When 3H Productions held the rights to BotCon they produced a number of stories set in and around the Beast Wars and Beast Machines cartoons, mostly (but not exclusively) featuring their own exclusive toy/characters. Dreamwave Productions planned a Beast Wars comic book series entitled Shell Game, but the company declared bankruptcy in 2004 with only one 'sneak-peek' story published.
IDW Publishing
2006 Beast Wars continuity
Shortly after acquiring the Transformers license from Dreamwave, IDW Publishing brought Simon Furman onboard to adapt what would have become Shell Game into a new miniseries set during the cartoon's third season. The Gathering proved popular enough to garner a sequel and a series of profile books. This small continuity incorporated basically every Beast Wars character with a toy, up to and including the casts of the Japanese Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo cartoons.
For BotCon 2016, IDW published Dawn of the Predacus, set between the end of the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons and the dawn of the Beast Era while also tying Dawn of Future's Past into the universe.
- The Gathering (2006) — Razorbeast travels to prehistoric Earth and raises an army to battle Magmatron.
- The Ascending (2007-8) — The Maximals and Predacons battle Shokaract to save the unvierse.
- Beast Wars Sourcebook (2007-8)
- Dawn of the Predacus (2016) — In the twilight of the Great War, the Tripredacus Council deal with the rogue Megatron.

Unlike IDW's prior Beast Wars publications, which told stories set parallel to the cartoon's version of events, 2021's Transformers: Beast Wars is a straight reboot that reimagines the original show.
