The proton rifle is an Autobot weapon and a relatively common alternate mode for Autobot Targetmasters.

Lightspeed carried a proton rifle with a magnetic sight that locked on to iron-bearing targets. Lightspeed's Universe profile Silencer was bio-engineered to convert to a noiseless, recoilless, high-powered proton rifle and was accurate up to six miles in this mode. Landfill's Universe profile
