Dark Amber Leo Prime is a Maximal from the Generation 1 cartoon continuity.

Born from the fusion of Unicron's remnant Angolmois Energy within Earth's crust and the lifeless body of the great Leo Prime, Dark Amber Leo Prime (ダークアンバー レオプライム Dāku Anbā Reo Praimu) finds himself between two opposing forces—the righteousness of Leo Prime and the evil of Unicron. Masterpiece Dark Amber Leo Prime is a redeco of Lio Convoy. He transforms from black lion to robot and is intended to replicate Lio Convoy's animated design, although his coloration is based on the original Black Lio Convoy toy. He is designed to scale with other Beast Wars-based Masterpiece figures.

This toy replicates many features of the original toy, like an opening chest hatch with sculpted Matrix inside, deployable arm blades and cannons, and missiles which can be inserted into his cannons, but have no launching mechanisms. He includes opening hatches on his calves which reveal articulated jet boosters. To really go the extra mile for show-accuracy, it has two slightly distinct lion heads, to better depict how in robot mode the lion head goes from furry to smooth and angular.

• Dark Amber Leo Prime derives his color scheme from Black Lio Convoy's consistently show-inaccurate toy deco, effectively spinning the toys out into their own guy.
