The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo's ultimate video game console, released on March 3, 2017, as the successor to the Wii U. Its defining feature is the ability to switch between portable tablet and home console modes, effectively making it a hybrid console. There is a handheld-only variant of the Switch called the Nintendo Switch Lite.
In stark contrast to the Wii U, the Switch was a fantastic sales success, becoming the fastest-selling console of all time in the United States[1] and even rivalling Sony's mighty PlayStation 4.[2]
