Created as a spare body for Optimus Prime's spark, Assaultmaster (アサルトマスター Asarutomasutā) serves as a blank vessel outfitted with Power Core Combination technology. It would serve as a step towards the development of Eldedroids.

Fiction

United EX

In 2035, the idea of sparkless Transformer bodies—originally explored by the Transformers of planet Master as part of their Transtector program—was revisited by the Autobots and humanity as part of their joint development of Power Core Combination technology. Among the creations of the project was "Assaultmaster", the brainchild of Wheeljack: a new body capable of interfacing with Power Core drones which would serve as a spare frame that Optimus Prime himself could transfer his spark into, rather than have to undergo a total body upgrade like the other participants in the program. When the Decepticons began stealing the technology, however, Assaultmaster was put to a different use: using an interface exoskeleton, the Autobot's human ally Clouder—already well versed in the finer points of controlling a Transformer after his time as a Godmaster—took control of the drone and piloted it into battle along a team of four Assault Drones. While exploring the cave believed to be their enemies' base, however, he lost control of Assaultmaster to the mysterious bodiless Decepticon High Regent Scrash, who desired to use the body as his own. Clouder set Assaultmaster's internal Immobilizer unit to overload, rather than let the body fall into Scrash's hands. Hope for the Next Generation Unearthed Future

Assaultmaster is a redeco of the Power Core Combiners Huffer toy, transforming into a long-nosed truck. He can also assume a "Prime Mode" where he becomes the torso of a super robot, capable of using any auto-transforming Power Core Combiner drone-machine molds for limbs.
He comes with the Assault Drones, redecoes of the Power Core Combiners Destron drones, which were in turn redecoes of a selection of drones from the Combaticons and Aerialbots. Each one has a square socket for a Power Core Combiner connection; when attached via the blue plugs on a Commander figure, the drones automatically transform into a super-robot limb, and snap back to vehicle mode when disconnected. Despite the universal connector, each drone can only form one limb type (but can be swapped from left to right):
  • Sentinel Drone (missile carrier) — Arm (Assaultmaster's right)
  • Guardian Drone (spy plane) — Arm (Assaultmaster's left)
  • Alpha Drone (attack helicopter) — Leg (Assaultmaster's right)
  • Zeta Drone (armored car) — Leg (Assaultmaster's left)
In keeping with Assaultmaster's role as a spare body for Optimus Prime, the drones are all named after other Primes: Sentinel Prime, Guardian Prime, Alpha Prime, and Zeta Prime.
